Im just curious. Has anyone here ever won the monthly prize handed out by lit for the best or top three stories?

Are those prizes given for each catagory? Or overal against all Lit stories?

Whats the best you have ever done on the rankings, and score.....p.s. I know the scoring system here has a lot of holes in it.....multiple voting from different pc's, I.P addys, and malicious voting.

Just interested to know everyone elses experience.

Thanks.

screw prizes. I write for me, no one else. That may sound harsh but its my way of operating.

Ditto and Kudos De Sade.
Prizes are only the icing.

(I'm gonna submit someday I swear)

Well...

Back in the day there was a Top 10 for every story on the site, and I had the number one story for about a year and half, which was cool. I haven't looked at the numbers much since the ranking went into categories, but I think my stories are still up there somewhere.

What are looking for here? Tips on how to win something? Write an excellent story, that's about it.

Top ten, I remember those days.
Where has the time gone . . .

I think you are missing a noun. I could be wrong.

You are off-form today, Dixon. All the Dixon bashing taking your toll?

Dixon bashing? What are you talking about? Does anyone ever know what Chilled Vodka is talking about?

If I may pat myself on the back here, one of my stories placed second overall for the month of October. Yeah, let me reach back and give myself a nice, long pat on the back. Mmm...feels good.

I write stories that interest me, first and foremost. But I also want to write stories that people will enjoy. Some of the things I've posted haven't been chock-full of sex, but most have, because that's what the reader wants. So, I'm writing to satisfy myself first, but not at the expense of folks who will read my stories.

I want my stories to post high scores and I expect them too. I work hard on them and I want people to enjoy them. So, I guess you could say that I pander to the audience, but I try to make the stories they read as good as possible. I'm a sell-out with principles, if that isn't an oxymoron.

How to write a story that scores well is a bit of a mystery. Right now 6 of the top 10 stories are written in Hindi, which either means that Literotica has made dramatic inroads on the Subcontinent, or there is a huge potential market for Indian fiction.

Ok, well christo has hit a nail on the head here. Besides hitting himself on the back(twice by the way) which you fully deserve.

Seems to me that many in the top 20, lets say; have an unusual amount of votes for as long as the story has been posted. Meaning: a large following, or voting for the sake of voting.

Mona and Desade, true we all write for out own pleasure and the pleasure of our readers. You could put a period there like many do......but like Dixon mentioned, It was cool to be where he was for as long as he was.

Everyone wants to be appreciated, and recognized. I am sure that the some 100, 000 people that have read my stories appreciated them, but the ones who voted showed me their appreciation by taking the time to vote. The ones that voted high anyways....the rest can go to hell! :D ...J/k

Well, at one point today....I held the 3rd highest spot overall in lit for one of my pieces. This was after maybe only 15 votes. I lead the catagory I was in.....I was damned happy with that. Ive since tanked a bit.....Although my emotions tell me it may have been malicious voting on the behalf of a jealous/nervous writer..I cant prove that. But 15 votes and a 4.88......then 2 more votes and a 4.6.......tells me two people gave it a one.....the last 2........Im no mathmatician.....but ....well thats the way it appeared.

So beit......I was on top for a while......and I felt great. I am still doing well, and thats because I know now, that these stories are well liked by the majoority of the voters, and readers that dont take the time to vote. I still feel great, and proud of myself.

Until two weeks ago, I hadn't written much more than a few grocery lists, and I have no education after college.

Thank you Laurel for allowing me this outlet, and to meet all the people here as well (some of them anyways)

And thank you to all who gave me their valuable insight on this thread question.

dont get me wrong, I love seeing people's reactions when they read my material and I have won 1 award, but my passion for writing is stronger than any desire for some lame awards.
