Hi all, just popping in to say hello and see what is happening. Great to see another meet is happening....sorry I'll not be able to make it. It's a bit far away and I've got a few commitments on with work (and hopefully life...but that is another story) at that time - including my graduation! I finally finished my masters!

Congratulations on becoming a grandma, Bandit!!

The shite will well and trully hit the fan when I come out with the 'marriage' ticket!
He's only 19 and the baby of the family.
And if I hear (which I'm expecting) the 'He's too young!' arguement, well then I have a chance of convincing everyone that this is the wrong decision, don't I!
Either way - they'll decide it's too soon, or they'll be married when the baby comes.

Did I mention the family has money? They may see this as a grab by my daughter...

I'm against forcing them into marriage. Put his name on the birth certificate so he has to pay child support for the next 18 years, but yes I think they're too young to get married.

Speaking as someone who got married at 19, had stars in her eyes, and ended up putting up with 23 years of shit. :(

Honestly, I want to use whatever I can to stop her having the baby altogether.
I do not think she's ready.

After much thought, and a few bourbons, I have come up with the one thing that I can use to make sure everybody involved thinks this through completely - coz right now it's all emotion and pictures of cuteness...

I am going to insist that the kids get married.
THAT'LL make everyone sit up and take notice, doncha think?!

A nice Roman catholic wedding and baptism when the child is born, and they must bring the child up Catholic. Be over the moon about it, start talking to priests...

haha - you get it ;)
I have begun putting a list together for them, of every single thing they need to get including the cost
starting with the fact that he will have to trade in his hotted-up dream car, because it's a ute!

How about a list of wedding guests? and places to register for gifts both bridal shower and baby shower?

I think they'll be shocked enough as it is - I'm close to $3k and only halfway thro the list.

be careful, if his parents have money, they might not care. hit them on all fronts, financial, political, religious...

Besides $6k is nothing for a wedding... ;)

I think they're the kind of parents who make him pay - he has to pay rent plus he's paying for his car, all from a part-time apprenticeship.

Phew!

I can't imagine what would happen if the two of you got together in 'party mode' ........:nana: :nana:

heh - I am still remembered by a certain long-term police officer in Karratha, for some shenanigans during past 'party mode' events
nothing serious... but I did dye the 50m town pool red... and wrote a particularly graphic message on the wall of the police station... and blew up a huge gum tree on the footy oval using household chemicals... you know, stuff like that :D

Turning the pool red.....hehehehe.....better than the usual 'pissed in' yellow, I bet!

it sounds as if you should go back and prove to that policeman just what a model citizen you turned out to be! ;)

I went back a couple of yrs ago, and the cop sat down right next to me in the coffee shop.
Apparently, from certain angles, youcan still see what I wrote on the wal!
:D
Can't prove I'm a model citizen tho - only a few months ago I puta whole bottle of dishwash into the huge fountain outside the courthouse here... reliving my youth
(couldn't find indian ink!)

I only remember the cop as Sgt Dave - but I can tell you he's well over 6 foot tall
