Hey Duckie
Well we seem to have totally different thoughts on motorsport but
I grew up going to the Sydney Showground Speedway with my parents (was only young).
When I was a teen got to know the promoters daughter who became a very good friend and eventually became an official and have never lost my love of the dirt circle racing with the bikes, sidecars and car divisions ALL getting me buzzed week in week out and back then we were spoilt with not only a great summer of speedway but we had winter too that was up at Westmead where the hospital now stands there is a bit inside the doors telling a bit about it.
Anyway I've always been behind the 8 ball money wise so my chances to race have been grabbed with both hands and have had some success in the lower support division starting with my first drive in 1970 when a guy got suspended and offered me my first drive (FJ HOLDEN) but got hit comming out of a corner and ended up over the fence upside down.
I've raced several divisions on and off over the years and finished in Speedway Karts which were great fun even though I had long got over the WIN<WIN attitude and really enjoyed the mateship
with the other guys and gals in 1999 mainly due to my lack of dollars retired again and now am happy being close to the action as an official.
If you love something ya gotta get out there and have a go.
Sorry about being long winded but been feeling like I needed to vent my self and did it here...
