Americans are very dull, boring people it seems.
They never seem to do anything much!

How're you doing?
:rose:

Pretty well... rehab of the knee is going according to plan and I am clocking up about a 5km walk every morning.

Not on the receiving end of any of nature's excesses....so dry, comfortable and still hummming along after this morning's reflexology session. :rose:

Apart from smirking a lot at your man, how's tricks with you?

Oh, I'm tinkering along.
Not allowed to do awfully much, as we are trying to avoid surgery for my right arm (it would be the right side), so no lifting anything heavier than a coffee cup and wearing my brace religiously.
I did cop a third degree burn after sticking my arm to the side of the metal firebox.

I might not make it to the meet after all :( as my practical assessment is sceduled for that week :(
And then immediately following that, I have a 2 week placement.

Good to hear you're on the improve :rose:

You really shouldn't play with fire you know....;)

I don't know about the meet.... not travelling for work this year, so I am free to choose (after I ascertain that I don't have animal sitting duties)...but also have to pay!!!

Heh - my man reckons I am accident prone.
I tell him I have accidents because I live hard (and because I never not do something simply because I might get hurt!)
:D

well, yeah, but ... ;)

how are ya, babe?

what's this i hear about floods? what's happening?

Unseasonal rain throughout central country Victoria and NSW - someone upstairs decided to set rainfall records for many of these towns and regions!

The Wagga mob apparently needed soaking yet again as they weren't made clean enough last time! :D

We have had rain in sunny Melb - but nothing like what's come down up the highway a bit....I have friends up on the river who can't get out and the one road into the region that is open is limited to food trucks while it is still negotiable.

And as for me? Doing well, all things considered.

:)

ello people, just passing through.

I see Gil is still about, but how about any other of the oldies? :)

I can't remember if Orlanth was around back in the QD days but it seems only us left although LB does make a rare showing on the thread, the rest seem to have been gobbled up by real life. :(

We do have a meet planned for Brisbane in May but only a few seem interested in going or getting the time, dosen't really matter as we will have a fun time of it.

I have spent a whole day at the hospital with my no1son, who has been admitted.
His cholitis has flared up again very badly despite the change in medication, and he will now be getting an extremely high dose of steroids and immuno-suppressants by iv.
He is one step away from a perforated bowel.
*sigh* For a 19 yr old, this illness is crippling :(

I have spoken to several gastro experts, both here in Australia and overseas, and discovered that there is no known cause, no long-term effective treatment, and very little chance of recovery. I have not told my son all of this yet - right now he has enough to deal with.

I am thoroughly drained... it has been a very long day.

WQ,

I have an ex sis in law who has lived with this for several years. In her case she had to have a colonostomy bag but she lives as normal a life as is possible. However this is a hell of a sentence for a 19 yr old.

Mont.

Thinking of you WQ

How is everyone been a while so i thought to visit the forum a little :)

LOL A Beauty, 3.59am isn't a good time to drop in here as it's only the visitors from other nations, you & me.:D

Hope things are going OK & drop back when some of the other might be home.

Seems my no1son isn't responding well to the medication, and may have to stay in hospital for some time yet.
He's also severely iron deficient and receiving iron by IV every couple of days.
They're talking about trying some newer meds which haven't been fully tested. Son and I are a little reluctant, and looking for a second opinion.

And my littlest kidlet got beat up at school today.
*sigh* this week can't be over soon enough.

Not the greatest of news WQ & hope both the kids will be OK. Is the school taking action?

I only found out this evening - been at the hospital all afternoon.
I will be going to the school in the morning... I have also given the kidlet my full support if he wants to fight back (he generally walks away) so he doesn't get a rep as a wimp.
When he fights back, he goes a little mental. So the other kid might get hurt. And then the kidlet will get suspended.

I'm wishing strength for you and you No1 son. If he has half your character he is nearly there. I'm thinking of you and wishing you success in your search for the right, effective treatment. :rose::kiss:

I hope the youngest trounces the shit out of his tormentor. He only has to do it once!!! I'm all for negotiation but it will never work with some mongrels. Grrrr.

HUGS to you WQ  I really hope they find some meds which will help your son, and that your youngest kidlet gets his own back on the bully. My son got picked on only once at high school. He elbowed the other kid in the gut and was never bothered again. My daughter had trouble with a girl at school too, and I told her (if she had to) to let the other girl throw the first punch, in front of witnesses, and then go all out on her ass ;) She never had to do it but she let the girl know she would if she had to :D

Speaking of daughters, mine has left her partner and gone back to her dad's early. She couldn't take his shit anymore. She's sure now that he was the one who stole $150 out of her purse, he's been smoking dope and hanging around with lowlifes. She took the baby to see him (she was staying at her brother's) and apparently it was more important for him to go out with his lowlife mates than to spend time with his son. He's a user and seems to have the maturity of a gnat.

To tell the truth I'm really happy she's back with family where she can be safe, have support and get her life back together. She's been badly let down and I hope she realises (I have told her) that she did her best and nothing that's happened has been her fault....

Bandit - very happy to hear your daughter has taken control of the situation and made the choice to be safe.
Being a single mum can be fun. I had a great time when it was just the no1son and myself :)
*sigh* when exactly do some men grow a pair and grow up???

As for my kids... this week has been hell. I have hardly slept.
I plan to take a sleeping pill tonight and actually get some rest.
