Aussies! Check in here!

Afternoon all,

So Barnaby had an affair whilst talking about the sanctity of marriage...so double standard or not? Then again I don't think anyone wants to picture Barnaby having sex...poke my eyes out now!! "Marriage is between a man and a woman"... "and his mistress."

COAG is on today so that should be an interesting discussion given the anti-state govt stance regarding SA and VIC.

So it's hot just about everywhere today with the heat to go north which is quite unusual, hopefully that means cooler temps for us in Melbourne town. Could do with some cooler days. Thankfully we didn't get a repeat of that 30 overnight temp as with the previous heat wave. Even the cooler days this Summer haven't been that cool with all the humidity. Just very tired of sweating doing basic tasks around the house. The evap cooler is getting a good run.

So who is looking forward to the Winter Olympics...yep not really. And it's roughly in our time zone as well, ok we're two hours ahead. At least we don't have to watch it into the early hours of the morning.

Hope the heat eases off where you are unless you're in Qld in which case gets lots of ice.

Clearly he had some time on his hands when not juggling lumps of coal...

WA, SA, Vic, Qld, NT, ACT... they have NSW on their side I guess.

Yes, the heat is returning here this weekend... it’s been happily absent for a week or so...

Hey Zach,

I saw on the news this morning that Toowoomba is going for 36 this weekend, so the rest of the state must be getting really hot considering it's normally cooler in Toowoomba.

I'm not sure about the other states supporting SA and Vic it's clearly along party lines. Malcolm and his mates clearly dislike SA for their stance on renewables. I like the idea of state govt's giving away or partially funding solar power on roof tops. The rebate thing only works if you have the money in the first place.

Think 40+ out west and 30+ even overnight... yikes!

I’m with you. Life is often more expensive for the poor... no bulk discounts, cheap loans etc... and yes, can only get the benefit of solar if have $000,s to spend. And you have to own the home of course!

I’m over the heat..it’s always two degrees hotter here then in Adelaide...but we get the change before they do. however it’s been over 40 all week and the air con is struggling..

Hope everyone has an awesome weekend

Happy Valentine’s Day Aussies
Hopefully most of you got lucky or plan too. Or got something from a special somebody or someone’s.

Afternoon all,

Well the weather has been cool here in Melbourne town for a few days but it's getting warm again thankfully not as high as the previous week. Managed to complete another painting task earlier in the week but still sweating a lot. Went out yesterday and even though it was only 22 it was still humid.

Been watching some of the Winter Olympics and thinking how nice it would be to have snow on tap for the Summer. At least the Aussies have a few medals when they aren't crashing out. Can't have a go at them for not trying. Considering we don't have a lot of snow during Winter, the team is doing ok.

Found out yesterday that my local bank branch is closing which is annoying. It's convenient and has good parking so will have to travel to a busier area. Another one of those forced choices that big business makes on customers. There are more people in the area and whilst I get that internet banking is all the rage, it's still good to get to know your local bank branch. Not like the banks are not making a profit.

Well Barnaby is the gift that just keeps on giving if you're in the opposition or a journalist. His ex-wife must be so pissed off. Do feel sorry for his kids, finding stuff out about their dad thru the media. Clear double standard. If it was a female pollie in this situation she would be hounded to resign and the Nats are just showing they are a boys club. Then again it has taken Malcolm a long time to seem that he is in charge. Had his chance to kill this issue off and just didn't take action. And how much rooting is actually going on in the Parliament that Malcolm has to issue a policy of non-rooting between Ministers and their underlings?

Hope your week goes well. I'll be doing a combo of more painting and trying to do my lumberjack impression...without suspenders and a bra :D

Without suspenders and bra? How disappointment.

I saw my neighbours earlier today stripping paint off the outside of their weatherboard house. The paid in excess of $1mil for this house two years ago, it had been completely renovated at huge expense and they bought it for a record price for the street. They don't like the colour.

There's no joy in the Joyce debarckle. I can't believe how we have gone from bi-partisan statements that the affair is no one's business but those involved to an open verbal stoush between the PM and Deputy PM. Turnbull has gone from making no comment to denouncing Joyce for having made "a shocking error of judgement". With his new Ministerial Standards prohibiting sexual relations between Ministers and their staff, he has invited the media into the private lives of Government employees (for media scrutiny will not be limited to Ministers, surely). There will be no public/private division such as has long been a traditional of Australian political discourse.

I'm not a fan of Joyce and could never be after his opposition to the HPV vaccine, where trials showed it to be 100 per cent effective in protecting women against being infected with the four strains of HPV that cause nearly 70 per cent of cervical cancers, because he thought it would promote girls to be promiscuous. But I see a man with a complex marriage breakdown, a hurt wife he clearly respects, four daughters he loves and a new partner with whom he will very soon be bringing a baby into the world. A public dressing down by the PM can only make matters worse for those involved. It was an appalling lack of judgement from Turnbull and it has spectacularly backfired with Joyce very unlikely to make a political decision to step down now, or for the NP to oust him as leader now that Turnbull publically interfered in their processes by saying Joyce needed personal leave to consider his position.

Relationships are complicated. Marriages break down. People have sex, sometimes while they remain married to other people. And high level advisors from all parties have been moved around (looked after) for various reasons. I don't think it's appropriate for people in manager/supervisor positions to enter into relationships but nor is it appropriate to suddenly enter the debate and come down upon it from a great height, trying to show leadership by issuing a black and white commandment that something that was now wrong and a sackable offence when last week, it did not merit comment.

In all of this is a child who was conceived in controversy, both public and private (and possibly love!), and who one day will be faced with gossip, snide remarks, and eventually an understanding of how he came to be in the world. Good luck kid!

Barnaby screwed himself royally. Fair enough his marriage broke down and all, not uncommon in politics, but he was cheating on his wife while preaching the virtues and sanctity of traditional marriage.
Got caught out. Plain and simple. Not the first and probably not the last. And needing a directive from the PM banning such liaisons speaks volumes as to it being fairly common.
No sympathy from me for him but do feel for the others involved here.
Does prove that politics really is showbiz for ugly people.

Saw Roger Waters on Friday. What an amazing concert, lots of darkside, Animals and a bit of wish you were here, the wall and meddle plus more.

As some are aware I am a Redskin fan and I bump into a girl I like who comes from Texas and is a fan of the hated enemy. What to do lolol.

The best thing is the nickname he’s acquired: the Beetrooter... a classic I feel :D

Well said Ms B!

I’ll try the control my infantile sniggering over the nickname...

Morning all,

Well Barnaby has indicated he is going to fall on his akubra, but not to worry his mate is Armadale will see him thru after all it's only fair after Barnaby sent govt business his way. Just a boy from the bush helping his mate out. And the people from Tamworth are sticking by their man, ok he is crap at making policy and is a hypocrite but he's just a country bloke trying to make good in the big city, well ok a fake city. Nothing to see here.

Saw the latest ad from Samsung..."do what you can't"...sorry what? Sounds like the mantra from Rump. Kinda like that American pretending to be a Hungarian in the half pipe at the Winter Olympics, failed at politics and failed at doing any tricks..."do what you can't"..."and lower the standard for everyone". "Can't fly a plane, not to worry with a Samsung device you can do what you can't, you might not live long but you'll be doing what you can't and living your dream.... much to the annoyance of everyone else".

Went to Bunnings yesterday and spent lots on more paint. With the prediction of this warmer weather to continue for another couple of months I can keep painting for another couple of months. There is always a challenge with each different task.

So another Russian athlete found guilty of doping, not sure if athlete is the right term. Same drug as the figure skater, must of got a discount on a bulk buy. Saw the Canada vs Germany ice hockey last night and I think the Germans were as surprised as the crowd that they won. My friends in Canada are also probably in shock. That's sports.

Still humid in Melbourne town and another warm night, hopefully it will cool down tomorrow. Sadly no lumberjack activity for me in the past week, just had other stuff to do, but may be this week. Extra motivation since the driveway bushes are not playing nice when backing the car down the driveway, it's all this humid weather, they have just gone nuts in the past few weeks.

Hope the rest of your weekend goes well. It's hotter in Melbourne today than in Brisbane...stupid weather!

Really hoping life slows down a little now. 2017 was a fucking shite year for us. Vexatious legal proceedings, unemployment, finance dramas... All finalised now but we're bruised and battered and scrabbling to our feet again.

Spent a week off my medication recently just to 'purge'. Sometimes i think my body needs a rest from it. Was able to finish a story I started ages ago and never finished. The meds really axe what creativity i possess. Back on track now.

Perhaps the recent deluge in sunny queensland is mother nature washing clean our slate and preparing us for a good year ahead. Can only hope.

Looking forward to some sunshine again soon.

Knew Barnaby Joyce when he was a sleazy local accountant. I'm not surprised by the dramas but cant help think politicians spend their whole careers doing to Australia what he's had to resign for doing to his staffer.

Hey Rollin,

Saw on the morning news that Townsville is getting hit hard by all that rain and it's moving in land so probably more welcome in-land.

You guys can have some of our sunshine in fact take the heat as well, I'm fucking over it and the warm nights.

Remember that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, if not a bit scarred.

Afternoon all,

Well another week of painting and sweating, thankfully much cooler today. Making progress on the painting tasks so that's good. Feels like I'm camping at the moment with having to move things around in the kitchen to do the painting. Looks much better and you can't tell the difference between the new paint job and the one done nearly 12yrs ago, it all blends together.

Did my lumberjack impression also on one of the hotter days so can now get the car down the driveway more easily, even did some tree hacking although not done with that tree yet. Has been a full week so far and I'm kinda tired. More painting next week and will have to bring some carpentry skills into it as well. Who needs a workout.

Nice and cool today in Melbourne town, some rain but as has been the pattern this Summer the cool changes have been rather weak with very little if any rain. Those people relying on rain water to flush toilets must be praying for more rain.

Well Michaelia Cash's mouth has got her trouble big time. Rather sarcastic apology as well and the press photos are not faltering. Trying to bulldoze her way out of it hasn't worked. Once again if that was a guy saying those things he would be forced to take a leave of absence and possibly resign.

Hope your weekend goes well. I'll be taking a rest and finishing off a video game.

Afternoon all,

Seems the coalition can't keep their mouths in control, if it's not Cash making stupid comments it's the Nat's Whip talking about the Anals of History. Well I guess she has a point there are a few anal people in the coalition.

So another week and another painting task even though a small one. Hotter again by Thursday, why? Just washed the car after all that crap blew over it from those windy days last week. Given the crazy weather I doubt it will stay clean for long.

For those visiting Melbourne this week, Moomba is on from Friday and of course a public holiday on Monday as it should be. Given all the road works in the city the parade is being diverted this year and probably for the next five years. Starts and finishes in the park rather going down St. Kilda Road so I'm guessing there will be a bunch of confused people turn up who are regulars.

The Grand Prix is on in a couple of weeks so that just adds to the chaos on the roads since they have closed off Albert Park Lake for the race as usual and St. Kilda road is down to one lane each way along the busiest intersection. Just makes you want to stay home. Travelling across the city these days is like an adventure but not in a good way.

Hope your week goes well.

good lord!

howza?

was in perth ... 18 months ago.but not a good time.

give me news.

Your dad? Sorry to hear that. :rose:

I was in a relationship anyway. With an uptight idiot who would have had a cow if I'd caught up with someone from Lit. :p

It's going to be windy tonight. We're all battening down the hatches. I left it too late to organise a date, so here I am! :D
