Good morning

Going to be a hot one down here in Tas - we have police patrolling known arsonist targets and visiting known offenders today, in the hope that they will be able to limit or prevent any fires starting. Total fire ban across the North of Tas atm.
I have been out and deep-watered all my pots this morning. Don't want to lose a chilli or my fushias as a result of the warm temps!

My plans are to just sit indoors in the aircon and finally finish the book I started a few weeks ago. Had minor surgery yesterday, so really do not feel up to being out and about, battling heat and summer crowds.

I just got back from 10 days camping at Betty's Beach, east of Albany. It was heavenly!

Yep it's much better since I retired last year. Have my own super so had the early pension option. Did a couple of mini breaks last year so that was good, no major trips yet.

Liked Albany mainly for the cooler temps than Perth and also so green. Funny to find fellow Melbournians running the local café down by the ocean. A bit like travelling OS when you just bump into so many Aussies.

One problem with your theory - Adelaide Oval has drop-in pitches as well, and it has been playing well.

Different conditions given it was played at night, plus the soils are different. Melbourne has a reputation for being low, the drop-ins fixed that now they just have to make is break up. Currently it holds together too well.

So the cricket is going well if you're an Aussie fan. Thought the pomes would melt out there.Aussies just too good. Was good to see the Marsh brother's make their hundreds. The selectors now look like geniuses.

Nice and cool day in Melbourne town today after that near 42 degree day yesterday. Took a while for the cool change to arrive and no rain with it so still had to use the aircon last night. Have had doors and windows open most of the day to help cool the place down. Nice breeze.

Was watching the Hopman Cup last night. Annoyed with Channel 7 continuing to plug the other tennis events whilst the final match was on. They can stick their fucking mega wall. Liked it better when it was on Channel 2. The Summer of Tennis thing means nothing on the TV menu, covering all bases or just laziness.

Apparently a teenager started the fire in Melbourne yesterday. Just stupid but also people have had property damaged for no reason. More heat in Melbourne for the tennis as per normal, but hopefully not in the 40's for the sake of the patrons.

Afternoon all,

Just watching the sky getting darker and the rain coming back thru Melbourne. Went out earlier and discovered it was still humid even though the temp is about 15 degrees cooler today. The local bakery had a fan going.

Got back from Warrnambool yesterday afternoon known as the Shipwreck Coast (S.E coast) for those not familiar with it. Had nice sunny weather whilst down there. Met a number of people from Melbourne who moved down there for the clean air and lifestyle. Drove back thru the storms yesterday. Was rather bad thru Geelong, nearly got wiped out by a 4WD wanker. Amazed at how many people don't use their mirrors.

Was my third visit to Warrnambool and the place keeps encouraging me to move down there, love those sea breezes and the scenery. Went house hunting down there as well as playing tourist. House prices are really good and the houses are large. Good place to have an investment property. Local farmers are certainly making money by selling off bits of their land.

The heat will be back for the tennis this week, but thankfully nothing like the 42 we had last week. Had a birthday earlier in the week so first year of retirement completed. Still paying tax though.

So another news day and things you don't expect. Lead singer of the Cranberries found dead but nobody seems to be talking about the cause. Rump denying he said stuff, well actually that's just about everyday. And yet another story about child abuse. And Melbourne has the honor of the highest rate of STI's since WWII. Must be all those infected pome backpackers. Way to go start of the year. Well I guess it was only a matter of time before humans forget about goodwill on earth.

Federer on tonight at the Oz Open or /\O as the sign says, dumb sign, and Nadal got thru his first match. And we adopted yet another import. Hell we don't mind migrants if they can play sport, but if they have any other skills god help them.

Hotting up again around the country. Not looking forward to the end of the week, 38 then 39 and I'll be out in it. Not happy.
