Aussies! Check in here!

And hi from me! not sure what timezone this is this week!
Hope everyoe is as well as can be expected - or weller

Well with the demise of the Abbott factor I'd say we're back from the 1950's to the present century, thought for a while there he was going to call for the new crusades although not sure budgie smugglers and a bike were the best substitutes for armour and a horse. Adults may even get to marry other adults of their choice which should make the divorce lawyers happy, potentially 30-40% increase in clients.

Afternoon all,

Well its just about Royal Melbourne Show time again. City folk get to see their food walking around and of course smell those country smells. Nothing like the smell of cow shit and horse shit to get a little country in the city. But as we all know the main attractions are the showbags filled with all sorts of stuff even things for adults. There's even free food if you know where to look. Have decided to go this year after many many years although it won't be the same as when I was a kid. Can't get those years back.

New shiny govt, I guess we will have to see how long it takes before they announce an early election. Interesting to see the Abbott loyalists are jumping ship to keep a job. That's what we like to see, politicians who have conviction and morals...till their pay check is threatened. Don't earn as much on the backbench.

Had a taste of Summer here in Melbourne town recently, even had to break out the short sleeve shirt all day and no heater, well ok for a day...but its a start.

Hard rubbish day on Monday in my neighbourhood. Put some stuff out yesterday and half of its gone already. The chance to get rid of the old mattress, although probably best to remove the spouse from it first, then again....

You were born in *cough* Tasmania *cough*, right?

How long have you been in Aus?

No. Born in Vienna, Austria.
I call myself a 'child of the planet', due to extensive travel from the age of 9....
On and off, I have been in Oz for about 23 years. I am 47.

Hey Dom,

With Father's Day sales on at the moment you can go up market on the bourbon, thinking of buying myself another 21yr old bottle of single malt.

As for Winter well now that its Spring...its still cold. Sunny at times but no warmth. Will have to wait till later in Sept for the warmer temps.

Well...it's later in September...and the temperatures have dropped. Today was our coldest day this month.

Well, well... the door has revolved once more!

That's an interesting choice of words, Zach. The public back lash against Gillard when she replaced Rudd as Prime Minister was deafening, it was less so when Rudd replaced Gillard...and a mere whimper after Turnbull challenged and deposed Abbott as Prime Minister. Is deposing a first term Prime Minister now just a part of the political merry-go-round?

So, last night I was midwife to my daughter....new addition is an 8 pound 12 baby girl :D

✨✨Congratulations to you and your daughter. I imagine it was a wonderful experience for you and your family and something for you all to cherish.

I just hunger for leaders who have something visionary to say and all consuming passion to achieve lasting, valuable progress for the people of their country...

I just hope that's not a wish for a squadron of pigs flying in aerobatic formation...

We're talking politicians here not leaders. I'd say you're going to stay hungry for a while, but its good to optimistic. I think the sqn might turn into one pig with flatuance....govt cuts packs

Afternoon all...from chilly windy Melbourne,

Well I hope it gets warmer tomorrow, planning on going to the Royal Melbourne Show. Haven't been in many years. Have my list of show bags. Unfortunately they don't have the Sunnyboy show bag anymore. Nothing like freezing your lips off whilst sucking on a fruit flavoured ice block. And of course the free food in the food pavilion. Not staying for the fireworks.

Well the new leader seems to be good for the Libs prospect at the next election. I'm sure more stuff will come out about Abbott. Interesting that he wanted an investigation into the BOM, seems anyone who didn't agree with him was threatened with an inquiry. Thankfully Abbottesville is dead. Heard a lot cheering about that recently.

Went to Medicare yesterday since I was in the city anyway on other business. Discovered they had replaced and the automated ticket machine with a person holding an iPad. Apparently meant to be more efficient. Took longer to get in the real queue which meant you had to queue twice and since the queue created with the person with the iPad stretched out the automatic door, the door was closing and opening like was broken and crushing people in line. The actual quicker option was to fill in a paper form and put it in the box...what a joke considering this supposed hi-tech society we live in.

Well I see Europe is building walls to keep undesirables out. When the refugees said..."we are hungry" the Hungarians must have misinterpreted their intentions. I guess that's what happens when there isn't a common language. Mi casa...has a whopping big fucking fence around it. Wonder if we could put a wall around Canberra...the govt contract would have to go the Hungarians.

Everytime a human is inserted into the equation...it slows the process down. Just sayin'

The last few posts prompted me to reminisce a little about life in Australia:

1) Wearing treads and Amco flares sitting on the couch watching the cricket with dad
2) Getting sunburnt at the beach covered in coconut Reef oil....god I still love that smell!!
3) Going to the Milk Bar and getting 20 cents of mixed lollies.....and having them last all Saturday night watching TV
4) Burning all our household rubbish in the backyard incinerator

and...........the last for now:

5) Driving in Dad's XC Coupe wow, I still love that car!

Hi Sy,

Well we need humans in the process, its more a case of using resources wisely, that person standing at the door with an iPad would of been of more use in processing clients claims and reduce waiting times. I've designed many processes over the years and they tend to turn to shit when the wrong person makes the change. You can quite easily change a process and fuck it up at which point the people who made the change blame the process.

Amco...wow long time since I heard that name. For some reason makes me think of the 70's and those striped cardigans and Tarax.

Ah yes coconut oil, more commonly known as basting oil. The old whack on the back of someone with sunburn...ouch! Those were the days...of skin cancer
