I disagree. The dicionary meaning of the ford "faith" is central to (at least most) Christians. You have to believe in the death, rescurresction and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. You don't wait for rationale or proof. You take, a leap, of faith. To try and strengthen your faith with evidence is to doubt it.
This is not me speaking, but any mainstream Christian centerpiece from the Apostle and Nicene Creed to the Lutherans ditto and onwards.
Or have I completely misunderstood how it works?
Whether the dictionary is relevant to wmrs2, is a separate issue.
You're thinking of Randism.Of course, Hitler had a superman premise for all his actions and according to atheistic logic, that makes his deeds just.
They were both derived from what I consider a misunderstanding of Nietzsche - Nietzsche's conception of the Übermensch struck me more as philosophical defense of civil disobedience than an excuse for genocide. You're thinking of Randism.

See, you were an undercover agent of RABD. Here Boy! Here Boy! Fetch! And for a Christian that level of faith becomes, for them, knowledge--no matter what the dictionaries say. You can't really tell me what is in a Christian's frame of reference unless you am one.
Which, again, is the basic problem here (other than mwsr2 just being a gamester).
Me too. 7.44586348834002937721
Can I buy you a drink?
I'd buy you Carmen Miranda, if I could afford her.I don't know -- I tend to order incredibly expensive ones, which look like Carmen Miranda's hats

The bribes you have to pay so you can dig it up in the middle of the night are pretty steep...Hmmm. I wonder what a 54-year-old corpse goes for these days.
True. I'm not a Christian. I'm an extremist agnostic. And for a Christian that level of faith becomes, for them, knowledge--no matter what the dictionaries say. You can't really tell me what is in a Christian's frame of reference unless you am one.

But I'm interrested in religion, and I've asked a lot of Christians about this, including priests and pastors, and what i told you is what they told me. The central theme is "my faith is strong, so I don't need evidence". That's all i can really say about that.
Yes, some Christians claim they have evidence, but what do they give you when you ask?Ah, the "lots of my friends are" ploy.
Not all of the hardassed pushy discussion on this thread is being handed by by wmrs2 and Amicus.

"Look at this beautiful world!"
or "The Bible!"
or; "My faith is strong!"
Admittedly, those are off the top of my very cranky head. What other types of proof have you heard, or know of?
Countered by the "dismiss the speaker not the message" ploy.Ah, the "lots of my friends are" ploy.

Okay, we are on the same wavelength, then.![]()
Someone back there seemed saddened that i could not relax and depend on faith, and hes correct-- although why that's sad is beyond me.
I require a modicum of evidence before I can put my faith in things-- like, the bridge won't fall down, gravity will continue to stick my feet to the ground, the tooth fairy left the agreed-upon amount under my pillow...
