Atheist!

wmrs2 came onto the 'atheist' thread as a fundamentalist Christian and was ganged up on, relentlessly, by the anti Christian, 'usual suspects', who have no beliefs and no moral or ethical system.

Showing the true 'trollish' nature of the 'usual suspects', who tolerate no deviation from their ideology, they hounded her/he/it at every opportunity and eventually drove her away from the forum. A shallow and spiteful victory at best.

There has been and can be productive discussions concerning belief and non belief, but it is difficult when the ratpack descends.

Oh, sorry.
I really thought I'd an opportunity to learn something.
I'll have to work harder to get up to speed.

Ami, you are anti-Christian and have no belief system. You've declared that quite often.

And the wrms person attacked everyone, claimed to be a 6th grader and then a retired black woman, then trolled countless threads and almost got banned for her ridiculous behavior.

Quit misrepresenting the truth, ya old fool.

(Heh;))

I have not scrolled back through the many pages of this thread, but I doubt all those who 'trolled' wmrs2, have diligently gone back and edited or deleted their posts.

You must be depending on no one going back and reading to deny the savage attacks on this person claiming to be a fundamentalist Christian and fighting back by calling names to some of the most prominent posters on the forum.

I think I will do a PM to find out where it went...;)

You bring it back here ONLY if you agree to be responsible for picking up its poop and keeping track of its rubber spoon.

There was a TV programme the other night about research into a fossil reckoned to be 47 million years old. It proved that Darwin was right; it is the missing link!

It's so cute, too!

But the fossil record proved Darwin right about a hundred years ago. And the big genome project has proved even more conclusively, that humans, chimps and bonobos are very closely related. The link was only missing in our prideful minds.

Not quite. What Darwin lacked was conclusive proof.

The thing about this one is that, apart from the paucity of skeletal remains, is that it shows the Talos bone in the foot being the right shape for upright walking (in addition to the hips). It therefore show that the anthropoids & hominids descended down this path.

Excuse me guys & gals, but can we try and stick to a reasonable discussion ?.
Those of us for whom 'concepts' and 'absolutes' are not in general conversation or reading may have a little difficulty with some of the quotes.

Abstruse words don't help !

If there are two points of view, let us hear them, in turn and with politeness. Then the rest of us might learn something !

For example: "xssve Chuckle this you lying little fuck weasel. "
gets us nowhere at all.

Right; the Bell goes Clang, both sides come out and break when I tell ya!

[ sorry. I'll get me coat ]

How can you possibly expect as few as two points of view?

Not all of our minds -- don't get me started on my in-laws.. and what's with those garbage bags that you can't open except by rubbing your hands together?
You know, you can wash sweet potatoes in the ocean, sort of the same way!

If one hundred of us learn to wash our sweet potatoes, there will be world peace!

So it somehow helps when everything you say is twisted around and misrepresented?

The very basis of civil discussion is the attempt to gain an honest and genuine understanding of the point of view you are attempting to argue against - to deliberately misrepresent the opposing point of view is a strawman argument not considered a valid debating technique, and if you persist after being called on it, it makes you a liar.

Point being, you're already going nowhere.

Good heavens, it was just a simple question

Why do folks hate an atheist? A simple question. Does anyone have a simple answer?

Like: He's stupid and I'm smart; I get uncomfortable when someone believes something different; I feel threatened when my belief is questioned.

Is there anything inherently wrong (or right) in saying I believe in what I can see, hear, feel, touch, smell or logically deduce?

Is there anything inherently wrong (or right) in saying I believe because I choose to believe.

Why is "atheist" a pejorative term to most Americans?

Since originally posting this almost seven years ago, my attitude towards religion has mollified somewhat, due in part to the marvellous little book Religion for Atheists.

All committed atheists should read it, instead of flogging a dead deity.

Is flogging a dead diety anything like flogging a three and a half-year-old thread? :D
