Personality Disorders of the Extreme
Why does the term Atheist remain a derogatory term in America? We are still trying to explain this vast topic. Most Americans do not tremble when a reasonable person says they are an atheist or a liberal. That is because most people are not affected with a personality disorder called oppositional defiant disorder. But the extreme liberal and atheist is.
When I was fifteen, I was reading through a book my parents gave me, called DSM or the Diagnostic Statistical Manual or something like that. I think it was the DSM IV to be exact. That is where I discovered the term ODD. At that age I said "Oh! A liberal." I immediately made the connection that atheist and liberals were not like the rest of the population, that they were truly deviants from the norm.
What impressed me was how these deviants used their personality to attack the established ethical standards of American society. You remember I previously stated that I made and make many thesis statements that reflect my beliefs. These statements are not extreme as they are found in the traditional American philosophy. although these beliefs are not considered to be the mainstream of American thought on this forum. Take in consideration that liberals and atheist are allowed to congregate and troll about, making them appear to be a majority of opinion. But in the real world, these extremest are in a vast minority in the USA. The question of this thread really admits what the extremest position is anti America. L&A are in derogatory positions. Thanks for the admission.
Against such hard and solid truth, the ODD personality attempts to work its dialectic of Marxism, the Hegelian Dialectic. I read that in one of my brothers 8th. grade history books but if this is too deep for some of you, you can begin your reading there. For most of us intellectuals, this information is common knowledge. I state this because some troll accused me of using too big of words to explain my position.
At any rate L&A's (liberals and Atheist) when they hear a traditional American value, like self-evident truths. they immediately construct their antithesis to the American way of life. Keep in mind, we are talking about the extreme L&A. He goes into a panic to oppose self-evident truths. He cringes at the thought of a standard that would control his behavior and he uses the full force of his OPP against the standard. On this forum the OPP disorder trolls about seeing that whoever is in difference with his views are strongly opposed in every way. It is appropriate to point out that they are inviolate of the forum's self-evident ethics-- thou shalt not troll.
In my opinion the ODD personality can best be viewed through the model of behavior of Sigmund Freud. Take in consideration that I am speaking from reading from one of my brother's high school psychology books. If the words are too big for you, ask one of your liberal friends about Freud because his theory is common knowledge among intellectuals.
How does a person arrive at the ODD personality? In his pursuit for power his id , what Christians would call the lust of the flesh, is unleashed He likes the feeling of opposition to authority and the feeling of being defiant even more so. He uses his ODD to strike at the standards of society. His behavior is much like a child suffering from a conduct disorder (CD), also defined in the DSM and very similar to the ODD. usually these disorder's symptoms are generally found together.
In the ODD personality, the Superego (consciousness) has not developed to the point where the id or libido is controllable or restrained. The ego is so large in the uncontrolled mind of the ODD that the L&A can not tolerate the opinions of others and is so self centered that he makes up his own code of ethics and rules of behavior. Although these codes and rules are very subjective, the foundation for his deviant behavior has already been established by the rejection of self-evident truths. Since universal truth, good and evil, do not exist, the ODD decides what is good, resulting in a L&A version of humanism as his default ethical code.
In summary, this is why the term Atheist remains a derogatory term to most Americans.

Trolls have a tendency to bring the best out of me. What do you take for your ODD and CD? It might work for me, since it does not work for you.
