Artistic Passions

Beautiful art! Please keep it coming, all of you. I love seeing it, and knowing it is made by those right here at lit make the pieces all the more interesting.

Netzach, I really like your beadwork because I used to be into it myself (although I never managed the complexity of some of your pieces.) Most of my bracelets were very simple designs... Repeatative tasks allow me to free my mind for daydreaming... I used to bead and crochet until my studies started taking up so much of my time. Daydreaming is a luxury for me during the school year.

I hope there are some new additions to this thread. Good bump!

Hmmm, missed this thread. Here is some of my work

This is colour pencil, but the background is pastel chalks. Done on full size matboard (sorry the photo isn't very good, hard to photograph over glass and this piece is framed.

This is a loose realism of a Blue and Gold Macaw (yes, I love parrots as you will see)

Done in pastel chalks on full size matboard

This one is not entirely original...I saw the same concept in a magazine somewhere once as a teenager and loved it, years later started to do something based on it and turned out to be very similar. Oh well...it's different enough, but I can't take credit for the idea.

Colour pencil on matboard of my grandfather when he was a teenager. The photo I did it off was black and white so I coloured it as I saw fit. Was an interesting exercise. Sorry about the glare...colour pencil doesn't photograph very well when done on matboard.

Damn!

What is the deal here?

Can this many people draw?

I can't draw a fucking stick figure!

I used to do black and white photography too. Here are some of my favs...

Portrait of my nanday conure, java. This was taken against a white background and vignetted in the darkroom to create the soft border

North Dakota Badlands after a rainstorm

A random bridge somewhere that for some reason seemed really lonely to me...like crossing it meant certain doom. I laid down in the middle of the highway to take this photo, so that might have accounted for the doom feeling *snicker*

Still shot photo of bucking horse at a bucking horse sale. I love all the directions this one goes in.

alrighty, I'll stop now, heh. I haven't drawn in a long while....been tempted to do some pencil BDSM related stuff but haven't gotten around to it yet. Would love to draw my Great Danes in pointilism too.

It has been a life passion of mine and then I marry a beautiful Spanish Amo who was born in Andalucia where flamenco has such a rich history. :) Must be destiny.

Catalina :rose:

Wow I knew Francisco was born in Spain but in Andalusia WoW !! What a lucky woman you are ! :) Men there are just yummy ;)

Andalusia is my dream land I often used to go there to attend some dance intensive course , I've been there six maybe seven times mainly in Seville, but Cadice as well and in Jerez de la Frontera which got both my favourite funs (well almost favourite funs ;) ) horses and flamenco , and once I've been with dancers friend to the Feria in Sanlucar !! :D

When younger I lived in Seville for the three most wonderful months in my life ! What a joy attend the lessons in the morning and then in night going around with the musicians and bailaores who where hanging around the dance school ...lol .. I used to live in the quarter of Triana and must say that nights walking , singing and dancing along the Guadalquivir were magic ! Awwww memories ...

Now I have hardly the time to attend my dance class 3 hours a week on here, but it's still a great fun , really one of the passions of my life too :)

Do you listen flamenco music as well , I love it and would be nice to share some opinions :) :rose:

PS . Sorry for the hijack

Seriously, Seri

Please don't stop, if you have more you will share.

I'm very impressed by everything you've shared with us.

I'm finding alot of pleasure in looking through this thread! Some of the talent here makes my jaw drop! :)

I'm just so god damn impressed.

Really.

If I could do anything as good as any of these, my head would be bigger than a beachball! I don't know how you all manage to stay so humble and nice, I swear.

OK, girl, why are you not putting these talents to use professionally or is that something you have kept secret from us?!! You have so much talent it seems a shame to not share it with the world.

Love your drawing....awww, just love all of it....please promise to post anything you do if you get back to it, especially the BDSM type. :)

...OK, some more of mine that I do have on the PC though once again they need rephotographing....the last one is an unfinished piece that I changed a bit for the better after the pic was taken and then forgot to take again before giving it as a present.

LOL, yes I am a lucky woman and he is yummy in so many ways. :) I love flamenco music though I am no expert, just know when I hear something I love. Now if we ever get to go to Spain and Portugal as we have been planning to do for awhile, I hope to pick up some good CD's..perhaps you can steer me in the right direction of what I should look for!!. :D

I was born In Cadiz and have lived in Sevilla and Jerez de la Frontera, although Jerez was when I was just a kid. The Feria is great, did you take the pilgrimage to it? You should do it once in your lifetime it is an unique experience which you will never forget.

I do like Flamenco but I do like the Sevillanas more, I remember going to the clubs in Sevilla and dancing a Sevillana or two.

We are going this year to take a trip to Spain and Portugal and we are going to spend of course some time in Sevilla dancing the Sevillanas and drinking some Sangria.

Francisco.

I figured something technical out!!!!

gone!

I wasn't going to post these because I feel kind of stupid about them, but what the heck. One year I was trying to think of the perfect gift for a friend of mine for her wedding....and I knew she loved Norman Rockwell and had always said it was her dream to own a Norman Rockwell painting, so...I painted her one heh. Pure plagerism but I had so much fun painting it that I did a few more over the years and hide them away in my room. It's embarassing copying other artwork! But these are some of the most fun paintings I ever did.

Both of these are watercolour on canvas. There are a few more I've done, (boy, girl and dog on swing and boy girl and dog on moonlit bench) but I don't have photos of them. What I've posted is about all that I have photos of...I never thought to take photos of the stuff people hired me to do :( (which, btw, I no longer do....I *hate* drawing "on hire)

http://designsbyseri.com/Norman2.jpg

Most of the rest of my photos are of children and people so I can't post those. A lot of my stuff was lost when my darkroom flooded...never replaced the equipment and while I still have all my negatives, never did re-print the photos either. I miss it.

Here are a few photos of some dogs I've owned or loved

Not traditional art, but I do some crafty-stuff too (Netzach, LOVE your beadwork, something I've been wanting to learn)

http://serijules.com/dreamcatcher.jpg

Dreamcatcher I made with peacock feathers. Used to make and sell these years ago, I just made this one in Dec for a christmas gift

I paint ceramics too, using either drybrushing or pastel chalks, which takes hours and hours but is gorgeous when done vs acrylic paints. *note: I didn't sculpt these pieces, they are just ceramic bisqueware

http://designsbyseri.com/cer2.jpg

There are tons more of these but you get the idea

I also used to make dreamcatcher jewlery, and I make satin floggers now....I'm a crafty sorta devil.

I actually went to college and have a degree in commercial arts and photography, but...I am extremely anal about my art, and while I can enjoy doing something for myself, when I start working at others' demands...I stop enjoying it. I lose my confidence and I end up hating every minute of it. I just don't want to ruin a good thing, you know? Taking a hobby and turning it into a profession may seem like the perfect job, but like any job when you HAVE to do it, it stops being "fun" and starts being "work". Life is too short to turn everything into "work", heh. So.....I just do it for me, at my own whim. It kind of is my little secret though...most people that know me in real life comment on the artwork around the house but never really look at the signature...and I never say anything. My little secret *shrugs*.

For some reason though, in the past 5 years or so I've lost my confidence. I'm convinced I lost my talent and cannot draw or paint the way I used to, and so I've stopped trying. It's rather frustrating because I know it's ridiculous...talent doesn't come and go. It IMPROVES, but I can't imagine it just "stopping". So I really don't understand why I'm thinking like I am. I have incentive though...one of the subs in my family lost her dog a few years ago and I would love to draw him for her for a christmas gift...I know she would be floored by it, so I really want to get off my ass and pick up a pencil again.

BTW...love your drawings as well, is giving me incentive to want to draw the female figure.
