We've been commenting. Just maintaining anonymity of the artists until after the polls close. Even if some people are aware of the origins.

Comment on 2 - clearly a lot of work went into this, I always respect that. I also was amused by the background because I think I recognize it from a museum mock-up of Edison's laboratory? One technical issue is that the lighting on the drawing seems to be a lot brighter than the lighting on the background, maybe darkening the drawing or lightening the background would make it look like it fit together a bit better, although it's not jarring the way it is. A Pygmalion and Galatea story is always cute, but I'm not sure this captures that emotion as strongly as it could - can't really see the inventor's face from this angle, and the gynoid is missing enough pieces to be a little creepy, although she has a nice facial expression. That little detail with the dripping is interesting, I like that.

Hmmm I wonder if that Is Edison's Lab... the one I've seen is not so cluttered. I found it as a "desk top" online. HERE
I actually intended for the drawing to be somewhat distinct and "pop" from the background. The background being a photo and the main subject drawn.

Your comment makes me wonder what you feel the emotion should be. Both you and Austin felt there was a bit of "creepiness" to the unfinished dolly. Funny, I just saw it as "in progress".

when i heard the word "key" i thought of books being the key to other worlds. i liked the idea of being in a library, picking up a book and entering a world of erotica. there's something about the scenario of having sex in a library... so that's how it got started. i'll post some pics of the painting process over in my thread. oh, the painting is in oils and is 16"x20"

I actually struggled with the construction of my piece for *key* First I considered the woman I had locked away in my dungeon... not really... The first thing that came to mind was keyhole. So I set about drawing the keyhole not really considering what was the erotic part of the piece. Hmm... now what? so I drew the girl on a separate page, I couldn't draw the inner drawing on the existing keyhole piece, not enough room! I then cut the keyhole out with an exacto knife, reduced the figure drawing, ran a copy, and enlarged the keyhole drawing, ran a copy, some trial and error till the proportions were correct. Lammed the two together, and made a scan of the laminated drawings. I completed the detail of the inner room using Photoshop. Whew!
