I'm so sick and fucking tired of constant problems with my system. Time to format and rebuild.

I've done it before, but can someone please remind me, what do I need to do to go from format to windows install . . .?

I don't know what you do, but I call Draco since I can never remember either. :)

Well let him know I'm dying over here ;). Juspar needs help!

I need to identify all my drivers. I'm particularly worried about the CDR.

Do you know what your CDR is? Can't you go to the web site for it and download the most current driver and the save it to a disk? I'm kinda punting here since I'm not too sure.

The most important driver you need is your modem driver. The rest you can most likely get from Windows update.

For a sad loser like you maybe

For most systems, it would be the mother board drivers

Cherry, its a Creative RW8432e, and I can't find the driver to download. Hrmm

So Blue, I'd settle for a driver to take me somewhere close to those breasties!

And for anyone else . . . does a motherboard need a driver? Good god.

A motherboard does not need drivers itself... you have to set the bios -they identify that parts on the motherboard and how the parts off the mother bard run. When you install a new hard drive you reset the bios

Whew, that's what I thought. And I'm reformating, not building a box here, so we should be fine. I need to make sure I have a driver for one of the CD drives, so I can get the windows CD to run, other than that I'm not too worried.

If you have windows flopy and cd rom then you shouldn't need the driver for the cd rom

Make a Windows startup disk (control panel -> Add/remove programs -> startup disk.

Put the startup disk in your A: drive and reboot to make sure that the CD support option works with your drive.

If it does work, type FDisk /MBR at the a:\ prompt.

Then type format C: /u /s

When it's done formatting, run the windows CD to reinstall windows.

I have the drivers that came with my motherboard, and yeah, I had to install them.

But, if you didn't build it, you probably won't have them.

You can get help to ID your mobo on this site.

Of course an MB needs drivers you silly twats

chipset drivers, IDE etc etc

Those are normal settings. Those are something you normally don't have to install, they are already there...

All PC's come with MB drivers or a restore disk

Unless you got your mate to build one in his shed and he didn't give you the disk

Okay do you like to contra-DICK-t yourself. For what is being asked motherboard drivers aren't involved. Don't need to be touched.
