all over the place?

Me, I'm all over the place. I think it keeps it more exciting for me. I might start out cleaning the kitchen counters and go to put something away that belongs in another room, only to find myself now picking up the crap off the floor in that room. Then, I'll go to throw that trash away, notice the watering can in the garage and decide to water and firtilize my house plants. Then I notice the furniture needs cleaning, but not after I scrub the toilets.

See where I'm going with this?

Am I insane?

That's the way to do it!

I can't seem to stay focused on on specific cleaning task for too long. I gotta mix it up a bit.

I take tests the same way. I'll start at the beginning, then I'll go to the end, back to the middle...it's insane.

No, that's how it happens with me. I notice the bookshelves are a little dusty, and before you know it I've got every book and knic knack in the house on the floor, the shelves are waxed and I'm trying to figure out if I want to put things back alphabetically or by Genre.

room to room as a military operation. usually starting off in the kitchen and finish in the master bedrooms bath. its a clean sweep wipe mop and wax..no dust bunny left living, no bacteria stands a chance, no door jam left cluttered. now if I could get the wife and kids to follow my lead.........

I am all over the house ... no room in specific order.

If I happen to wander outside , I will end up cleaning out my car or I will notice the dog & cat food bowls looking dirty, I will clean those as well. ...

Its freaky really... :)

What a hoot. I'm the same way...so easily distracted.

I don't think you're insane, just stoned.

I saw that thing on CNN about "too clean" houses causing immune system problems in children....so now we're comfortably messy, all in the interest of my daughter's health.
Hey, that's better than admitting to the sloth that I truly am, right??:p

Perhaps this is just another example of the male/female split in cognitive process?

I tend to pick one room to clean and go through it somewhat systematically. Granted, I am sometimes easily distracted, but when I return to the process of cleaning it is back to that room before moving on to another.

Oh crap Ruby lisalovesit busted us, Oh well..........fire it up baby!:D

I always plan to be organized then I go into chaos mode. Im a flake like that.

Probably.

I pretend that I'm going to clean a room...then run out the door! No, I clean...

I do a room at a time. Sweep and kill. But I know what you mean...I just fight the urge.

I'm German...we're anal.

I'm like you Rubes.

Today, I filled up the sink to let the dishes soak. Then I realized the aquarium in the kitchen needed more water... so I did that. The one in the livingroom needed more too, but I decided it needed more fish too. So I ran to WalMart and bought a few fish. While I was adding them to the tank, I realized the iguana cage needed cleaned out... which reminded me that the horses needed fed and watered. When I went outside, I noticed the flies were eating the German Shepard's ears again, so I had to find the fly spray... which led to putting some camping gear back into the attic...

I'll never get my dishes done.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only freak, and it is interesting, but not surprising, how the men are more systematic in their approach. Men don't have the multi-tasking gene that we do. It might be some sort of biological imperative as well. I know that my husband must finish whatever he's doing before he can even have a short conversation with me.

Doesn't everybody get high before cleaning house? That and some loud music are prerequisites for my house cleaning experience to be satisfying and complete.

Absolutely, that's how the books end up on the floor. Not to mention the CD's which I decided should go in order of origianal release date Saturday.

My husband came home and I was in the middle of a circle of hundreds of piled CD's listening to Cravitz and eating cold pizza.

He just kinda sighed and shook his head.

That's me, well except for the mid-session Wal-Mart excursion.
I waste a lort of motion, but I get more exercise this way. Dishes get done last, or put off.
Dust redistribution is something I seldom do. It makes me sneeze. I bought expensive air filters. I wipe it off when it builds up.

Cleaning? I am supposed to clean my house?

I thought that is what you do when you move every ten years!

It's good to take a five minute break every hour or so to keep your energy up. At least for me it is.

Also, I'll play little tricks like give myself an easy job inbetween the ones I don't want to do. Or, tell myself that after I complete the yucky job, I can sit down and fold a load of laundry while watching some HGTV, or come post at lit and have a cigarette.

That sort of thing.

Patient1, I think our method burns more calories too. I end up walking all over my house, upstairs and down, over and over again on days like these.

STG, :p. ;)

I'm the same way, all over the place. I also take a lot of breaks whenever the cleaning frenzy starts to wear off.

I usually clean off everything but the floors on one day, and then vacummuing/sweeping/getting on my hands and knees with a little wash rag the next.

I think I'm becoming obsessed with cleaning every little thing! It is a great way to get some excercise in.

:)

My cleaning routine is systematic. I systematically ignore doing it. Seriously, if I know where shit is, who cares if it's clean?

But maybe if I went through Ruby's pre-cleaning rituals . . . ;)

House cleaning is shared in my house - Thank God!! - 'cause I hate it. I am almost anal about organization, but cleaning is just NOT my strong suit. When Hubby cleans, you can eat off every suface! And he is very systematic - and can't just wipe down the counters, has to take everything off and scrub, take the stove top apart EVERY TIME, soaks the little trays in a plastic bag with amonia, vacuums 7 times over every part of the carpet.....damn, he's a cleaning machine!!!

But me, I just sorta hit the high spots - and I fly all over the place. Up the stairs, down the stairs, back up the stairs....great exercise!

And I always have the music on - LOUD. Otherwise I'd just run out of steam and sit.

Isn't it strange how the men and women do things so differently?

I'm anal.. Everything is done in order, one room at a time. No sidetracking for me.. or I'd never get it done
