I guess? I mean I knew all that already from tax class but I've never heard anyone act like it was gonna be a problem... Because it's totally not. Do you know how many people we usually see with investment or capital gains income? The numbers are off here. That shit's really rare. We usually only get w2s and shit. The difference this will make is statistically insignificant on the average person. That's why most people see it as "next years tax changes" rather than the fiscal cliff.
Lemme guess- you old folks heard this on fox news or some shit, didn't you? Did you find something else to be afraid of in case the Mayans were wrong? Fuck's sake people... This will not affect you at all. You will be ok. We start the prefile on Jan 2nd and Emerald Advance goes on until New Years. Just come in and let the people who actually know what this means do your taxes. We'll get you the maximum refund and stand by it if the IRS says anything. You won't get that anywhere else.

Dude, this is not common knowledge. Seriously. There's a chick at work who has done taxes for 30 years and talks to me every day about taxes and has clients who make hundreds of thousands of dollars and she never said anything about it. I legit work at a tax office. Me not knowing about it is pretty good evidence that it doesn't really exist.
