Are stories taking longer to post?

At the risk of sounding like one of those repetitive newbies, is it taking longer to get stories posted after submission? I submitted a story 5 days ago, in the Letters category, with absolutely no forbidden content, and it's still pending. I've been around here long enough that the average time from submission to publication was down to around 2-3 days for my stories over the last couple of years, so I'm surprised.

No idea. My Halloween story took a day. A friend posted an illustrated story and it's been weeks.

I submitted a story to the regular file yesterday. It's marked to post tomorrow.

I think they give priority to stories submitted for contests and events to make sure they get published in time. My story was originally intended for the Letters event, but I didn't get it done in time. If I'd submitted it on the eve of the deadline I'll bet it would have taken just a day or two. Interesting.

My six stories have all taken either two days or three, but only two days or three, never longer. (I had a poem take seven days, but that's the outlier.)

I had a short one knocked back last week in 24 hours (not enough words), then the longer submission went up in 24 hours, once I resubmitted.

It's probably because Laurel can't quite believe you've actually finished a story . . .

You people are killing me. EB is going to get a drop bear falling on his face if I have anything to do about it.

My current submittal has been pending for four days plus a few hours. That's longer than the wait recently, even for non-contest/event items.

I've got two stories stuck in pending. Both have been resubmitted for minor issues which have been corrected. But they are very much stuck. Also got two edited stories in a holding pattern over LAX?
Got a new story written, but holding off submitting until the log jam is blocked. My Halloween entry jumped straight through!

My story a couple of weeks ago was posted within 30 hours of submission. My latest has been pending for three days.

Corrected stories take FOREVER, I submitted a correction on a story and the correction sat in pending for 28 days

How can you get that notification? I never can seem to be able to.
Zeb's right. I go to my main control page, look at the story list, and click on the pending story heading. It shows the story, and it now says "new" instead of "pending" and it now lists the date on which it will post. It says October 12 but based on custom it will post around 11 pm tonight Pacific Time.

The time for publication hasn't changed for me. At least, I don't think it has. I don't check on the status in the pending section after I post a tale, but I wait for them to show up in the by-date listing on my stories. The time from post to showing up seems the same. Two to three days, I think.

No kvetching or complaints, just some observations. I've found submission-to-publication times can vary quite a bit, so it doesn't surprise me when some people get worried or agitated about it.

My very first story was one I submitted right near the deadline of the 2016 winter holiday contest, so it was approved almost instantly to get in before the deadline. I had interrupted the completion of a longer story to write the holiday story, and the holiday story from conception to completion took less than 24 hours, which is very fast for me. I think I submitted the second story a day or two later, but it took about 5 days to publication.

4 was the norm for a while, but more recently it's been around 2-3, and I figured that's because I'd been around for a while and they knew I wasn't going to write about under 18 stuff or try to publish unreadable English. This latest one took 6 days, which surprised me, because there's nothing borderline in it that I can think of.

Millie, with this new forum software you can now go back and delete two of the last three posts. Double, even triple posts are now a thing of the past.

I'm new here, and mine take forever to post. I can live with that. I think, but I'm not sure, both the stories I published, which aren't in the Halloween contest, took five days. The Halloween one was different. It was authorized in about five days but posted on the first day of the contest.

I'm wondering if it worked this time. I did delete them twice before.
