I submitted a story in the Group Sex category on Aug. 31. It reset to a Sept. 1 submission date. I waited ten days and sent a message to Laurel and I reported a bug. I submitted another story to the Group Sex category, Imprisoned In Different Ways, on Sept. 16 and it was published on the 17th. The new story is also part of the Crimes and Punishment contest. I don't know if contest submissions take priority.

When I submitted the new story, I also mentioned in the Notes that the first story was stuck in Pending. As of right now, after doing everything I can to alert Laurel, my first one is still Pending.

What should I do now?

I had this happen too. The ONLY thing that worked (and worked quickly) was to submit the story again, with the same title, description, etc -- i.e. just pretend that the "stuck" story never existed, and make a note to the admins that your other version is stuck. That second identical story will go through fine.

DON'T make changes to the story after that:

The reason stories get stuck in this way is usually that the story has been queued for publication the next day, but you go and edit it while it's in this "about to go live" status. That seems to mess up Literotica's database.

I tried this seconds ago. The system won't let me submit a story with an identical title. I also don't see an obvious way to "unsubmit" the first version.

I assume you're not able to edit it the original and thereby move it into DRAFT status? (it will actually be in a weird mixed status, where it looks like it's in draft status to you, but will actually be a "different sort of stuck").
Failing that, just put something like "-- RESUBMITTING" after the title, and, again, make a note to the admins (who actually do manually check everything), about how you've had to add that suffix to the title because of the stuck one.

Making the original Draft didn't let me submit the identical-title story, so I added "-RESUBMITTING" as you suggested. We'll see what happens.

Thanks.

I decided to edit the posting by adding a note about the length of time it was pending. In doing so, I noticed a "warning" that the description box contained more than 60 characters and would be shortened. I fixed that and resubmitted it. I don't know if being over the character limit in the description box was a deal breaker on the submission, but if it was, I would think the story would have been rejected.

Has it gone up yet? I got stuck in pending once (very frustrating...I do feel for you), and I submitted the same story from scratch with a different title and different intro thing...that worked. Unfortunately, *both* stories ended up being published!!

I submitted a new story last night. This morning, it's already approved and listed as "New" (not "Pending").

Meanwhile, Annie's essay submitted on the 13th is still "Pending", along with the correction resubmitted yesterday as well.

FYI, my story is being published on the 20th in the Group Sex category.

Stories aren't approved in a First In First Out order. That's all anyone really knows, though there's a lot of speculation about it.
