What did you think of it?
Is it worth buying the hardware to put it onto my laptop?

What hardware is needed?

I'm not sure. There's not much info on it here yet. But I heard a report that it is windowless? And putting in this hardware makes your laptop or desktop a touch screen?
Like I said, only minimal info here so far.

It's made to WORK with a touch screen, so it can cross platforms like a tablet, PC with a touch screen, and phones...but it won't turn your system into a touch screen system unless you already have a touch screen monitor.
One PC geek friend of mine is totally in love with it...but it IS Windows, so who knows just yet...anxious to see for myself as well...

Oh, and watch it, if the JAJ is asking about hardware...he'll need a tissue in no time flat...

Oh, maybe I misheard it.
I was sure they said something about being able to fit new hardware to enable home use without having to buy a new computer.

Laugh@tissues :D

I've been playing with Beta versions of it for a year. It's definitely not worth paying to upgrade from windows 7 unless you already have a touch screen display.

You can use it with a mouse and keyboard, it just won't have the full effect of how it is meant to be used, I gather...

I sent it ..........don't know how it didn't get there:cool:

It is probably floating around in the swamp up your way somewhere...

Yeah - I keep finding funky new things I can do with my tablet and my phone.
:cattail:

I got the new Droid Razr Maxx a couple months ago...battery life rocks, and it is pretty quick, but I am waiting to find that one special app or whatever that makes it jaw-droppingly cool...so far it is a phone with a browser...

Windows 8: All you need to know.
-------------------------------------------

*shrug*

It's no big difference from Windows 7.

* A new start screen thing that is easy to use with a touch screen but works just fine with the ol' mouse.

* A bunch of full screen apps (as opposed to programs in resizeable windows) that you can use if you want to or ignore if you like the old way of doing things. Most programs will run and look like before.

* An app store for more of those apps, like on an Ipad or Android decive. Nothing anyone really needs, but might be fun.

* Random other interface tweaks.

If you have a regular ol' PC that runs Windows Vista or Windows 7 and is ok with it, there's no reason to upgrade.

If you buy a new PC from now on, it'll come with Windows 8. When you do, see if you can get one with a touch screen. They will probably be more expensive though. Windows 8 works just fine without, but a bit better with.

You forgot:

* Will be so buggy and full of security holes that you'll be downloading updates for the next year.

Been on the prerelease at work for six months with no major hickups.

And dude, there's awlays updates for Windows. Win 7 got patched just the other day. It's the nature of the beast.

No, and I wouldn't get Windows 8 for at least a year. Let Microsoft work out the glitches in the OS.

I know, I got the d/l message when I logged off the other night. It might be nice if M$ actually tested their stuff before releasing it.

They outsource all their testing to the Indians and the Chinese. What do you expect?:cattail:

I tried the RC, and hated it. Since that time, I heard major improvements were made.

Problem is, I cannot buy it right this moment. I suppose it is released tomorrow.

You can guarantee there'll be a cracked copy on TPB an hour after it's released.
