Anyone for a nightcap?

Two shots of Jameson's in my Irish Coffee. That ought to get the day off on the right foot. ;)

And how successful was your work day? :D

One marvel of Chicago - when I lived there the first semester I was out there, I lived pretty much ON Rush street, we were artists in temporary housing, which was a weird furnished hotel down by the Gold Coast and the bars.

The bars were full swing goin' by 10 AM. Weekdays, Saturdays, Sunday brunches.

Now I'm no blue law person, but that's just weird.

I recently returned from a college reunion where one of my former classmates reminded us that several of us went out for breakfast on graduation day at the bar where we usually hung out at night. We had the usual eggs and bacon kind of meal accompanied by a pitcher of beer. At about 9 am as best we could recall.

On a related note, when I was in grad school in Buffalo a group of us would regularly meet at a bar for breakfast. Only some of us had the Irish Coffee or similar things at that hour (i.e., before an 8 am class).

I grew up and went to college/grad school in Blue-Law-land so I can honestly say I don't remember having breakfast in a bar. (At least I don't think I ever had breakfast in a bar...I might need to check with my people....) On the other hand, I do remember an awful lot of 4 am visits to Waffle House or White Castle/ Little Tavern...and that's not because we were early risers....

At least that is my recollection at the moment... ;)

They had Irish Coffee in 1890?

Apologies, yanks. I couldn't resist!

Just now finishing a bottle of some kind of cheap-ass California Merlot (go suck lemons, ITW :p ). God how I enjoy not having to share my wine. :D

I need more wine after reading the firearm debate....

ETA: I'm not sharing my wine tonight either.

No disrespect to those of opposing views, but I have found the firearm debate to not be worth it. Neither side will change their minds.

As a parent though, especially when I lived in the south, I did learn very quickly to ask other parents about their gun ownership and to explain their storage and security measures. Especially if my child was going to visit or sleep over.

A surprising number of well-educated, otherwise responsible parents did not have an adequate response.

I'm not totally anti-gun. But the way the laws exist today is totally screwed up. I mean, as in knee-jerk laws. In one community, guns of any kind are illegal. In another, all heads of household must own a gun.

I do not like the NRA one bit, however.

Enough from me on that subject.

Just don't make wine illegal and I'll be happy.

Anyone who doesn't like good biscuits ought to be checked for a communism gene. ;)

Amen baby! Gimme 5!

('Course I do like my biscuits with spicy sausage gravy. Or molasses. Or butter and marmalade. Or....oh the list is long....)

I did! Like ten hours.

When I've had more than the usual amount, I often take a couple of Tylenol PM pills (a generic equivalent, to be accurate). This counters the inevitable mid-sleep headache and the usual few hours of fitful sleep in the middle of the night as well. As a result, I usually sleep 9 or 10 hours when I do this and wake up feeling not at all bad.

ok fill me up

um, with drink that is

any drink

Coffee it is! With Kahlua for Minx.

I had mostly sips of the above-referenced drinks, and throughout the day, so I slept fine.

Is it safe to take Tylonel PM after you've been drinking though?
