Anyone for a nightcap?

I have the same rant..a lot. I really don't care one way or another if they are doing it in real life or not, until they start offering advice like they have.. That pisses me off.

'Cause it's fucking dangerous. Inaccurate. Half-relevant. I mean it might be good advice but you should disclose where you're getting it.

Ah, but that would require that people be self-aware and responsible. How can you ask for such frivolities in this day and age?

A sniff of Penfold's Shiraz Cabernet to wash down some average noodles. Twill have to suffice for now.

Started the day with a hit of cabernet sauvignon from Lindeman's - into the beef stew, of course. How else would one deglaze the pan in which the beef was browned? :p

Because I think that this will appeal to a couple of our regular contributors here and because it is tangentially germane to the thread topic, I draw your attention to today's Town Called Dobson strip at Left Toon Lane.

Ohhh, clever yankee. I thought you were hitting the bottle a bit early...

Chianti, again.

I've read that one of the reasons why chianti is popular with Italian food is that the flavor of garlic does not reduce the chianti to garbage in the mouth. What's your experience?

We meet again, midwestyankee. I need an evil superhero emoticon.

I had never heard that actually. Interesting. I just got into Italian wine recently, for no good reason other than I was sick of Californian wines and French seemed daunting. And I like 'em dry and spicy, like my men. Wait, that didn't work.

I've never liked most chianti but then again, I like a wine that is at least slightly sweet.

:rose:

I've never liked most wine, but then again, I like my booze to taste like booze.

...Not that I drink, of course. That would be breaking the law!

LOL! I hate my booze to taste like booze.

However a really good quality wine that's expensive and slightly sweet, I can drink all night long!

:rose:

I'm drinking the best sauvignon blanc - new zealand, marlborough, Sunday Mountain. Sooo good!

Mount Eden Chardonnay tonight.

ITW, I hope your sleep turned around last night. The last time I posted here I was in the same boat; I finally went to sleep around 4am. Yuck.

It has, more or less. Thank you!

I hate being strict mom. Bleh.

Not for tonight (port is what's at hand) but remembering one that was served at our table recently: hot apple cider spiked with Grand Marnier. It tasted wonderful though I doubt if I could consume a whole one without entering into some kind of insulin shock (and I'm not diabetic in the least, btw).

Me too...been there, done that!
I have many such years ahead of me, alas. I love having an independent one, btw, but...it has its challenges! ;)

Hmm...port is not really my thing - it's too sweet. And I hate hot apple cider. But um, enjoy!

Doesn't everyone? ;)

If not, they should!

Oh, by the by, $50 bottle of shiraz tonight! Not that the cost always translates to quality - I never spend that much! But Mister Man bought this one from a great wine store, and saved it for a special occasion. He got a job offer today, and uh, my luck I was there to share it with him! Ha ha.

At any rate, oh my ... deeeelish. I could get used to this treatment. I might become a high maintenance girl.

Hey. We had burgers last night. Burgers! They were tasty too. Mister Man's special recipe with egg and a little bread crumbs and chopped onion. I made toasted pita chips and greek salad.

Special recipe. Mister Man's Speeeecial Recipe.

Wendy's burger? Ugh, gross, no.

Mister Man's Special Recipe, con pita chips and ensalata greca.

Si? I don't get it. I would ask if you're drunk (as an aside, I have wondered about a few people on Lit recently!), but I know you don't drink. Am I missing a cultural reference?

It is true I do not now nor have I ever eaten Wendy's burgers. My body is my temple. DON'T SAY A WORD, HOMBURG!

I suspect you'll be able to get them, I imagine the New Zealand wine market exports as significant proportion of it's wine as we do here. Perhaps Mr Fung or Miss Kiana may know.
If you're looking for NZ exports, try the Cloudy Bay. Both the Chardonnay and the Savignon Blanc are excellent. And I know they export all over the place.
