Anyone for a nightcap?

I've had Rosemount. It's definitely drinkable. For some reason, I never really end up getting it. I guess I'm usually on the zinfandel or chianti or spicy side.

Eeeeeeeep hello you, I ranted in your thread and now I am out again , you snuck up on me while I was waxing lyrical over Doyles Miss ITW. Bad girl .

I loved the story about the restaurant. Makes me want to try the Chardonnay, particularly since I'm not a chardonay drinker either.

I was looking at naughties over at Papa Shank's...

It's a good wine, but I suspect it's value is somewhat enhanced by the fact it's always been shared with people I really cherish. Glad you enjoyed the story, felt a little indulgent from this end, simply lacked the self control not to.

Ahhh Papa Shank, the domly Smurf of Sin, I am skeered to go in there. He knows I don't enjoy looking at girly bits, only seconded by the majority of male 'naughties'. I do adore the man though. Seriously, who wouldn't.

Get better dammit .

This was a serious virus, man! I have never been this sick. I mean, I admit I am a complete baby at the least sniffle but seriously, this knocked me on my ass. I finally realized a few OTC things I had been taking were working against each other, and sorted that out today. Things do seem to be on the mend though finally. So thank you.

Oh man, can I just swoon for Obama for a second? Gawd. The man is on fire! I'm really excited about his win in SC. And I have a crush on him.

Bunny started drinking an hour ago to get ready to go to the bar. She's been drinking 100 proof vodka with a tad orange juice. She has already had 6 drinks<she's got alittle buzz>; she's going to have fun tonight. *points and laughs*

Fuck you. I switched to 55 proof coconut rum while ago. Just to keep the buzz intact until we get to the bar, that is.

I deserve it, right? :D

I agree that Rosemount's primary recommendation is its drinkability. One of the reasons that I buy it is similar to Rebecca's in that it was introduced to me in a group of friends and associates that I truly enjoyed. I don't pick shiraz very often these days, but when I do it's the Rosemount as often as not.

I prefer undrinkable wines. You know, so complex you can't drink it?

ha? ha ha?

back from dinner. mmmmm 2 glasses of sauvignon blanc.... mmmmm

Finished off a bottle of "Two Buck Chuck" sauvignon blanc tonight. It was mostly drinkable and definitely was good enough to include as an ingredient in the crab soup.

I'm not trying to be ornery, midwest yankee. I really hate two buck chuck.

I find that it's a very simple wine with little depth or complexity. However, it's perfectly good for cooking and since most recipes call for less than a full bottle and since I'm cheap beyond words, I find a way to sip the rest. That said, I only buy TBC when I'm already picking up something better from Trader Joe's and even then fairly rarely. The BV sauvignon blanc was much better, of course.

And you can call me yank as most of my friends here do.

'tsup yank. Hee.

I suspect you'll be able to get them, I imagine the New Zealand wine market exports as significant proportion of it's wine as we do here.
No idea what percentage is exported, but New Zealand's wine is readily available here.

Thanks for the recommendations, Rebecca. ITW - click me.

Swoon away, woman!

On fire indeed.

Drink more. Drinking has long been the cure for thinking.

I think more when I drink. And then I just go to sleep. I'm not much of a lush actually.

I just feel so disconnected lately. It's really weird. I don't know what's up with me. I think it was just the malaise. I'm kind of over it. I can only tolerate so much wallowing.

I think neither more nor less when drinking. I do channel more of the thinking into "Do NOT slur. Walk a STRAIGHT line. Do NOT sway." etc. I just know a lot of folks for whome alcohol is the off-switch for their brains.

There is no off switch for my brain. I used to have difficulty hitting the big O on occasion because I would get really close and start thinking, hey, wonder if I put that pan away, should I reorganize my closet, is the U.S. really ready for an african american president?

"Beige. We should paint the walls beige."

I have exactly one off-switch - weight heavy enough to frikken squish me flat if my concentration is not perfect. Possibility of horrific bodily harm really focuses the mind well.
