Anyone for a nightcap?

I do appreciate the concern, JM, and I assure you I would never let my anger and hurt get the best of me. Last night I was venting.

I was trying to figure out why your post irked me, and I think it's because I am surprised you would be under the impression that I would become bitter and spiteful, especially to the point where I would let it impact my kid. If I've given that impression, I'm disappointed with myself. I am a heated and passionate person, and I often get worked up in the moment. However, part of me coming here, or writing in my journal, or hashing it out in therapy, is venting and working things through in a space away from my ex, and my kid.
You have absolutely not given that impression.

Venting is good! Excellent, in fact.

The intent of my post was to say: Your anger and frustration is justifiable, but you have been on the right track (see link), you know that you've been on the right track, and I hope that this knowledge gives you the strength to get through a frustrating and difficult time.

Thank you for the clarification. It has been a frustrating couple of days for umpteen million reasons, so I am a bit prickly at the moment. And I'm incredibly sensitive about protecting my kidlet.

Plus all of this drinking, and it's just barely noon! ;)

You're welcome, and I apologize for upsetting you in the first place.

Under the circumstances, "prickly" is totally understandable.

The information in your post about the two groups of friends who support you RL is very helpful for me to know. It greatly reduces the chance that I'll burst in with unsolicited advice in the future!

Oh, no worries. It gave me an opportunity to pause and think about why the comment irked me, and that turned out to be kind of helpful.

Look at me - all zen and shit! ;)

Having the last few sips of some Smoking Loon merlot. Anyone else in the lounge tonight?

I'm not drinking fucking merlot! ;)

Sorry, was sipping some wine with a friend earlier, and had a nice long chat. Hope you had a nice evening.

Well, I hope you didn't go out onto the street corner just to make your little merlot rant. ;)

It was an ok evening, thanks.

Chocolate mint bailey's? Sounds delish. I really never do have much in the way of yummy drinks. I have to admit, I was looking at some of the cool mixers at the store and thinking of all the possibilities!

Not me.

*eyes a bottle of Singha beer*

Yet.

I'm doing a little work and watching some foosball.

Mouton Cadet is quite a respectable label. Not sure I've had the bordeaux but I'm sure it's a very tasty value.

I'm nothing if not respectable. ;)

Generally I don't look for bargain Bourdeaux wines, or Cabs. But every once in a while there are a few surprises out there.

Yeah I see it! Any excuse to use the new emoticon, wench!

*bats eyes* excuse to use caning and my name in the same sentince? :cattail:

Last night was blackberry mead...tonight is Oliver brand. My favorite is Sweetvally so far....but the person I've been chatting with (every night this week!) makes mead. :cathappy: And he can make dandilion mead :cathappy: that was my first experience with mead, homemade dandilion mead :cathappy: good times

Sounds like a horrible thing that I should probably avoid diligently.

As an aside, one of the best altered states I've experienced came from an incredibly smooth homebrew mead that was bottled by a friend of mine in the SCA. While everyone and their brother went of to (boring-ass) Court, my buddy John and I sat in the feast hall, ogled the hot serving wenches, and got happily drunk off homebrew mead. It was a smooth, warm buzz that didn't mess with my stomach (alcohol frequently gives me heartburn), and faded clean. No nasty aftertastes either.

At one point, John, pleasantly drunk, looked at me, and with a look on his face that made clear that he was about to say something funny, quipped "I am not as drunk as you think I am." Obviously intending to say "I'm not as think as you drunk I am", a favoured phrase of his, he was initially pleased at my laughter. When he realised that I was laughing a bit out of proportion to what he'd said, the miswording dawned on him, and he got amusingly red in the face. Fortunate, one of the pretty serving wenches was nearby to witness this, adding to my enjoyment of the spectacle :D
