LOL Sounds like me - K and my sister and friends say I'm very self righteous with them. But hard liquer is on my no-no list and I don't really like other forms of alcohol, so i just don't drink too often. I'm almost ALWAYS the designated driver. And I ALWAYS call the next day and laugh at them. Well, except K. I have to live with him, after all. Him I bring motrim and water and gatorade to.

I generally don't like the taste either. every once in a while it tastes good, but only specific things. Sheridan's is always good. It's a coffe and chocalate liquer in one side of the bottle, and a cream liquer in the other. Stupidly good. I like Glenfiddich. I sometimes like Jamesons.

I would mug people on the streets for McEwen's Scotch ale. Nectar of the gods it was. Really the finest thing to come out of a bottle. And for $26 a six-pack, it had bette rbe sex in brown glass. It was. It was just that damned good. Nothing else like it in the world.

Haven't seen it in the stores hereabouts since the bastards at Newcastle bought it and shut down the original brewery. Not that I'm that bitter, as the stuff was $26 a six-pack for fuck's sake.

You know, my mom is sure that my sister is an alcoholic. Why? Because the night after my sisters boyfriend climbed into her bed and shot himself my sister got drunk. Quite frankly, I bought her the first two shots. This, evidently, means she's a drunk.

As far as I'm concerned there are days where you are ALLOWED TO GET DRUNK! The day you come home from work and find your boyfriend of three years brains splattered on the wall IS ONE OF THEM. Other days would be . . . lost of a child . . . well you get the point. If it weren't for booze my sister wouldn't have slept AT ALL that first week. As it is she still has nightmare problems, but she's pregnant and can't drink.

Actually, I despise beer. I like ales and stouts. Well, some ales and stouts, and porters too. Plain old beer means lager to me, and there ain't a lager in the world that rings my bell.

And I'm not aa alehound either, even when talking ales, porters, and stouts. It is more a case that I like some, and I rarely have anything more than a glass. Carbonated brews of any sort fill me up SO fast. I can't drink beer and eat anything. And, aside from McEwen's, which is both potent and absurdly tasty, I can't get drunk off of any sort of beer. I get full before I get tipsy.

That is actually specifically what it is. Lagers were a way to drink something that was safe and wouldn't make you ill. Water quality was a pretty important health concern prior to boiling. Weak beers were safe, thus lagers and ales. Things like stouts are intended to have a high nutritional content. Guinness really is bread in a glass. It's hearty, and will keep you going.

We owe civilsation to beer.

There are some hefeweizens that I dearly love. They're chewy. A good friend of mine owns a German restaurant, and I mean a real, authentic German place with food that is better than most of the restaurants I at ein when we lived in Germany. The place is awesome. He owns it, and is the bar manager and usual bartender too, so he picks the beers they stock. Whenever I want something truly good, I just ask him to pick something suitable. He's never done me wrong. I positively adore a bartender that can do that.

I'm over my dedicated mooning over crush man day, and ready to leave work and have some fun with Mister Man. Am going to be making butternut squash gratin, and some sort of ham that he apparently has. Yes, my nose is all scrunched at the word "ham steaks." I think a nice honey mustard glaze will do fine though. I'll be sipping some saugvignon blanc soon!
