I'm not feeling too good, and the worst part is that my throat hurts..... anybody know any quick, easy, miracle cures?

My hub would say some one eye'd worm juice, but I've discounted that option.

Honestly, I don't know any quick cures. I'm just a tea tottler.

Yep, rum works wonders on a sore throat...Even better if you add it to a cup of steaming hot coffee.

Anything else for those of us who can drink rum? Around here, I think they swear on Jim Bean or Wild Turkey.

Gargle with hot salt water...

It's gross, but it usually helps.....

honey. Tea with honey in it.

And then there's my family's recipe that has been in our family for 3 or 4 generation.

Either take ginger tea or gingerale. (I use gingerale)

Boil it in a saucepan, with lemons sliced (in rounds, not wedges) into it, and when boiled, pour it into a mug, with honey in it. Stir, and drink, right before you go to bed.

It will make your throat better, and put you to sleep.

while I certainly appreciate the suggestions, I don't drink anymore...... and one eyed worm juice...... no thanks.

cool recipe- I am actually drinking ginger ale right now. Can I use lemon juice instead of the lemons?

If it is scratchy, rather than "can't swallow" sore, try fresh ginger tea: 3 slices fresh ginger root simmered in 3 cups water for 30 minutes. Drink untl you start to sweat. Honey will soothe the throat as well.

If it is really sore, and you are getting feverish, the miracle cure is called Yin Qiao San. It is a Chinese medicinal available in many health food stores if no Asian resource is available. Be sure to get the one without Tylenol.

Get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water

I am a Chinese herbalist

my 2 cents

lots lots of fluids, esp. hot tea w/ honey!

also VOCAL REST .....meaning.....NO TALKING or LIMITED
TALKING......makes all the difference too..........

if you also have a cold (real stuffy nose) to go w/ the
sore throat.........do the old put the Vicks Vaporub in
a pot of boiling water and throw and old towel over your
head and breathe in.............

get better soon sweetie! :)

Ginger tea, it's nasty but you boil ginger root for five minutes in hot water. It works. You can add honey, to help soothe and take away the not so pleasant flavor. I would highly suggest you stay away from adding lemon, because the acid will actually dry your throat out and make your sore throat worse.

robitussen... (sorry, I couldnt resist that one)

but there's hot tea, very hot, to the point where you almost cant drink it. the same goes for hot lemonade.

I cup of brewed green tea
in this order or it won't mix correctly
1 teaspoon of natural honey mix the honey into the tea
a little bit of lemon (squeezed) about 1/8 of a teaspoon
1 cap of rum mix good
Drink

OK something I learned from

down under. Get several fresh lemons. Squeeze the juice. Heat up water like tea water and mix the two. Then add honey. The warmth of it helps and if it doesn't help it will make you pee.

Different variations of honey and lemons going about here for a cure.

Feel better. :)

Peace,
Tulip

Hot Salt water.

Anything with sugar in it is just fuel for bacteria ... or at least that's what my daughter's voice coach said.

also try the health food store for some lozenges containing propolis and tea tree oil

The gargle with salt water ... works better if you are using Rock Salt.

I should be doing this myself & not talking too much for the next couple of days ... I pretty much lost my voice from sneezing & coughing. :(

Surely I hope you mean Kosher salt; not the stuff you put out on the driveway when it gets icy...that shit ain't sterile...
