Any suggestions for "coffee shop" music?

Need some suggestions/pointers from you guys again....

I'm a fairly regular visitor to coffee shops...

I like listening to music sometimes when I’m working at home...

I’ve been listening to what I call “coffee shop music”... Now that’s not one genre, rather, it includes pretty much any music that is played at coffee shops...

To give you some examples: Caffe Nero, one of the U.K.’s most popular coffee shop chains, have published their playlist/library on their website. It includes 926 songs in total.

I’d say maybe around 80% of the stuff on their list is to my taste.

Another (much shorter) list of songs is the stuff on the compilation album “From the Heart: Coffee House Edition”. There's 20 songs there.
Probably my two favourite songs on that list were "Cranberry Lake" by Ari Hest featuring Amy Kuney and "Lucky" by Jason Mraz featuring Colbie Caillat.

Of course, there’s several different genres of music represented there, but I’s say most of the stuff there – something like 75-80% of the stuff on there is to my taste.

I’d be grateful if you guys could suggest more music/musicians/singers whose work is similar.

I have been buying other songs by the same artists, that’s perhaps the obvious thing to do... but I'd like your suggestions too!

(Just by the way, if you're a regular visitor to coffee shops, like I am, you may wish to check out this web page, which offers a reproduction of the ambient "hum" of activity in a coffee shop, including sounds of conversations, laughter, "clinking" of cutlery, etc. Apparently there has been some research which suggests that low-moderate background noise can improve creativity.)

I’ve also been taking suggestions from Amazon.co.uk, from their “Customers who bought this also bought these...” feature, but I can’t help the suspicion that that list is probably “manipulated” by the record companies? Or maybe it is indeed a true reflection of what people have been buying...

Either way, I’d be deeply grateful for your suggestions, folks...

Here are some of my favourites:

Damien Rice
Glen Hansard
Passenger (thanks to Rainshine for introducing me!!)
Ryan Adams
City and Colour
James Taylor
Jim Croce
Peter Bradley Adams
EastMountainSouth
Sufjan Stevens
Simon and Garfunkel
Dave Matthews (sometimes)
Lifehouse (some of their stuff- You and Me, for example)

If by 'working at home' you mean writing, then I find instrumental music better than anything with vocals. And if that's the case, I'd suggest pretty much anything by Peter White, David Benoit, The LA Chillharmonic, MB3, Richard Elliot, Rick Braun, Chris Botti, etc.

Happy listening

You're going to laugh, but Michael Caine came out with a great compilation called Cained, which is mostly chill-out music - mellow, calm, often instrumental and mid-tempo. I love to work to it.

Off of the top of my head, though, some excellent artists include: Mumford and Sons, Pretty Lights, Adele, Don Omar, Delerium, Lucenzo, The Velvet Underground, Wa Wa Punx, UNKLE, Sarah McLachlan, Röksopp, Fink, any good classical music. But I've been accused of having schizophrenic music so take it as you will.

What I will often do is YouTube the recommendations - a free way to sample music if you will. I've discovered great bands that way. Also, iTunes is another source of musical suggestions, and they promote little known artists.

Happy listening.
