I'm 25...just old enough to be sexually uninhibited and acknowledge my right to do what feels good to myself and my partner, and just old enough to have been raised by a "Victorian" mother.
As a child, I was told that sex was a duty...something that wasn't enjoyable but had to be done if you had a prayer at getting or keeping a man.
And menstruation...good lord, don't get me started. My pads were to be hidden discreetly, and no one, not even other women, were to know I had my period. In junior high, menstruating girls took showers seperately from the rest of the class in PE. All through my life I grew up hearing terms like "that time of the month", the ever-lovely "on the rag", and things along those lines. I was taught my period was disgusting, and like sex, an evil necessity.
I would never have sex while I had my period, thinking my guy would be repulsed. I had a few that were. One guy dropped me like a hot potato when he got a little frisky and felt my maxi through my clothes. My Dom has sworn since I met him that it didn't bother him. The first few days, I don't WANT to have sex anyway, I'm crampy and bloated and nauseous, but after that, I might WANT to, but that whole stigma always got in the way. It kind of lead to an argument on a couple of occasions, but he eventually conceded and we would "take a week off". He said I was the ONLY woman he'd ever been with (and by his count he's been with a little over a dozen and I have no reason to disbelieve him) who's period interfered with making love.
Well, today we were fooling around, and things got heated. He went to take my pants off and I stopped him. He gave me this confused look, and I told him I had my period. He got up, got a towel and some rope, tossed the towel on the bed, and we did it anyway. Kind of hard to protest when your hands are tied...literally.
And it wasn't so bad. I still had that "something" in the back of my mind that we "shouldn't" be doing this. As far as physically...not so bad. Almost TOO wet, though. Kind of cut down on sensation, at least for me. It'll take a while to get over 25 years of conditioning, but I've got a shot at it.
So...for ladies and men, Dom/me's, subs, and switches alike...do you or don't you play or have sex during a woman's period? Why or why not? Has anyone been taught similarly and if you got over it, how did you do it?
