Another day at the bird feeder

I spotted an indigo bunting yesterday.

A nice contrast to the bright orange of the day lilies.

I have a a nesting (assumed) pair of hummingbirds, but with all the flowers in my gardens,
I don't see them at the feeders all that often, so the store-bought nectar
fails the Pepsi taste test.

:)

I like it when I have goldfinches hanging around.
Throw in some cardinals, tanagers, buntings and bluebirds
and it get quite festive and colorful; Gaia's own rainbow pride...

What I lack is Purple Martins.
I put up the little houses, but alas,

Prince has departed the back yard...

I've done that. It too soon gets coated with seeds and bugs and after the initial shock wears off, the squirrels ignore it and just spend more time licking it all off when they are done feasting.

The Cardinals are eating more cat food than the cats do, and a yellow-bellied sapsucker has taken up station next to the suet feeder and won't let anything near it.

I have had as many as seven of the little bastards around the feeder at one time. Always at least one.
