HHS Under Investigation For Illegally Soliciting Donations From The Same Companies That It Would Then Regulate

What is this now? Scandal 552 of the Obama administration?

Via WFB:

The House Committee on Energy and Commerce sent a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announcing an investigation into recent reports that HHS is soliciting funds to support Obamacare.

The leaders wrote, “Currently, health insurers are seeking HHS approval to qualify for the health exchanges established by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act so that they may attempt to sell their services to the public when enrollment begins in a few months. Your agency also has the power to review the insurance rates that providers wish to charge.”

The leaders requested HHS provide by May 27, 2013, a list of individuals, companies, and organizations that have been received the fundraising pitch, a list of HHS employees that participated, a summary of the communications and information relayed, and detailed information on the funding sources and amount spent/allocated to implement the law.

Sebelius is no stranger to controversy after violating the Hatch Act in 2012. The New York Times reported Sunday that she was fundraising for nonprofits to ensure the success of Obamacare.

Senator Lamar Alexander specifically questioned the legality of this outreach, noting that the responsibility to fund the Executive Branch is the purview of Congress under the Constitution; you cannot circumvent it by reaching out to private donors.

The most corrupt and toxic Presidency in the history of the US.

We told you so.

What scandals were there?

Sibelius asked healthcare executives, church groups, and community groups to contribute money to private nonprofit groups that are working to increase awareness of the law.

HHS spokesman Jason Young added that a special section in the Public Health Service Act allows the secretary to support and encourage others to support nonprofit groups working to provide health information and conduct other public-health activities.

Young said that Sebelius did not solicit for funds directly from industries that HHS regulates, such as insurance companies and hospitals, but rather asked them to contribute in whatever way they can.

Scandal! Scandal! The director of HHS asked people to give to charity! Scandal!

Unless there's some new information out this is another GOP overreach like the Benghazi non-scandal that's an "impeachable offense" despite to crime of any sort happening.

Oh.

Didn't the elder President Bush say the same thing once, with a thousand points of something?

If the GOP thought their was a crime committed in Benghazi they would have made an allegation.

Murder of 4 people......thought murder was a crime.

(I suppose since this group are governing under the "Chicago" brand, then murder is apparently no big deal)...

Well, the person under investigation said, "I didn't do it." Investigation over. That's that. Whew. That was close, and it was like, the first time in history that someone said, "i didn't do it".

Backup.

There's no investigation.

There's a probe, a simple request for a document.

Now that the crust is cleared out of your eyes would you like to rephrase your post?
