The firstborn here is a big animé fan and has attended the Chicago show for the last six or seven years. Apparently it's all about being allowed to be one's geeky self for an entire weekend - and that's not all bad.

Hope she has a blast.

Hubby flirted with the idea of going in costume himself but decided no.

Of course, next fall's Renaissance Festival? Our entire family is going in costume.

Geeks, indeed.

But smart people rock. Lotta brains at that convention today. Her Anime Club is pretty much loaded with the best and the brightest at school.

Okay - yes, and the odd and strange and warped and twisted.

Ain't it cool?

Ask the hubby later if the phrase "Got Soap?" has any currency at this convention.

Part of the rules for the convention were that people must bathe.

Noting that it's probably not necessary to remind Litogether participants to shower on the grounds that showering is likely one of the preferred pastimes.

The Anime Convention is coming soon (mid-May) to Rosemont, IL. My daughter is serious about it having bought her own costume - she will be a Japanese school girl wearing a school uniform. She looks the part except for her brown hair. Last year my son was Raptor Jesus (kind of a cross between a dinosaur and Jesus), which either insulted the nonparticipants or got some laughs. They are both looking forward to it. By the way, if anyone is going there, be sure to order your tickets online soon because the ticket lines at the convention have been horrendous.

we have a big one in baltimore called Otacon, that like half of my friends go to every year. I've never been, though they always try to get to me go, i just can never afford it, and i only like something in the neighborhood of 2 anime's anyway.

Anime

It's my teens who are into anime, although I thought it would be neat to take photos of all the great costumes. Actually I'll be in the Baltimore area the week before the event there but for something else.
