Tried doing a generic search but got zip.

There's a story by shelleycat that parallels this, though it's a married couple and the android doesn't blackmail. It's not your story but it might stir your memory. That would also be in Sci-Fi and Fantasy.

Thanks, gone through those results and still can't find it. Have a feeling there were light hypnotism elements but searching Mind Control stories with android or robot doesn't work either. Hmm...
