… goes to Johnny Mayberry.

From the "Hugo Stirkes Back" thread:
Johnny Mayberry said:
Socialism, dear friends and neighbors, is simply an attempt to make sure that people share both the benefits and the burdens of being a member of a society. It simply suggests that you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Yay Chavez, for standing up to the bullying imperial corporate scum.

The press is eagerly awaiting Mr. Mayberry's full explanation of the theory. In particular, they want to know why someone should go to work, and work hard to succeed, if they can't have their cake and eat it too.
Mr. Mayberry has thus far declined to respond, perhaps because he is too busy finding satisfaction as a suffering member of society.
It's clearly too much to hope that he'll find a job.

Bump.
I don't care if anyone responds, I'm just waiting for that moron Johnny Mayberry to explain to me why I should go to work if I can't have my cake and eat it too.

What he said.

What I never understood is this:

What is the point of having cake.....and not being able to eat it?????

Then why have the cake? For it to get stale? To sit on?

I always found that saying flawed in logic.

If you can buy/get/make/find cake.....eat it.....

And that folks is called Baking Cakes for Dummies.... get it at your local Barnes and Noble. LOL

Johnny is one sharp dude. He's demonstrated a grasp of macro and micro economics that exceeds that of us mere mortals.

I think that we should take his priciples and apply them to international economics. I mean, doesn't all that Mid-Eastern oil really belong to all of us? And the same with South African and Russian Chromium?

And I damn sure want my share of that Burmese teak.

Ishmael

(JK folks, living proof that the schools are still turning out idiots and allowing them internet access.)

Jeez boys and girls, one bad analogy, ad you get your very own hate cult? SWEET!!!

Maybe I should have said TANSTAAFL?

Instead of anger, maybe someone could be kind enough to share exactly WHY I'm wrong? And saying "Because I'm right and you're wrong" doesn't count. Negativity doesn't equal intellect, you know. And hey, I spent my 'college years' serving my country, and I haven't had a chance to use my GI Bill money yet, so cut me some slack, ok?

Well KooKoo Kachu to you too...

This is too fucking funny tonight. And I just don't have enough panties.

I think I had better go shopping at VictoriasSecret.com tonight.

alright. I am not making fun at your expense. This is all about Heavy...

But I can and will address you about why communism is a flawed system. None of us have called it evil... those are your words. I would not call it evil. I would call it flawed and it is flawed because it minimalizes and devalues the human being. It is collectivist in that it takes from all, for the state, which in turn decides what to return to the society as a whole. The state decides who needs what and how much. There is no reason to excell under communism because everyone gets the same ration, the same reward. There is no reason to take pride in acheivement because the state takes all you acheive.

It's evident you're not as dopey as redwave and dingodick.

Take as long as you like and type out how you think the theory is sound for practicle application.

1 as a functioning body
2 as a positive influence in a global market based on free trade

How many times do I have to repeat myself? I NEVER SAID IT WAS A FUNCTIONAL SYSTEM!!!!! Jesus, dude, you really haven't been paying any attention at all, have you? What is this, the 4th time I've told you that I know it doesn't work, I know it isn't practical, and I know the governments that have used it were dictatorships! All I was trying to say is that even though it is flawed, certain isolated aspects of it could be integrated into another, better system. I'm not saying that communism is good, I haven't once said that.

I agree, but how many cakes are you willing to bake before you take the first slice?

I do believe that's one of the more sensible things you've said.

Im turnin a new leaf.......

I gonna be normal *

All well and good to share.....But at the same time....all well and good if you DONT want to share the fruits of your labor with anyone but yourself or family.....If forced to share......why produce a good cake?

* Naw, I dont wanna be normal

Then why do you keep harping on it?

The above is a very concise definition of communism.

Charity is a good thing and it is an admirable thing. However, it should be reserved for individuals to do and not for the State to do, except in extreme cases.

This is my opinion.

THANK YOU!!!

Jeez, that's maybe the start of something worth talking about, isn't it? Makes perfect sense too. The point I was trying to make is that to a certain extent, any goverment is going to take some amount of what you ear, and use it to the benefit of everyone in the society, How else do roads get built? How else do we pay for police? The politicians of both parties don't seem to mind moey taken from our pockets and put in theirs, do they?
