A carrot seems too thin and pointy to feel good, but maybe that's just me. Even when I first experience anal play, thin objects like fingers and carrots were more uncomfortable than thicker dildos and such.

Of course I couldn't get a dildo or a cucumber all the way in at first. But, the pressure of gently bumping against it and stretching was better than deep thin penetration, but maybe that's just me.

If you're into it, a carrot shouldn't present much of a problem. I'd suggest that you put it in a condom, use plenty of lube and proceed slowly.

I would warn anyone using a carrot to be careful about getting too carried away. It's rather pointy and it is possible to cause damage if you jam it into yourself (or your partner) too hard and deep. (Can you say perforated rectum?) As long as you're gentle and STOP the moment it gets uncomfortable, you should be fine.
