Also Hamas has said they will repeat Oct 7 again and again, so until the hostages are returned and Hamas surrenders or is eliminated, it’s still self defense and the continuation of the war.
Self defense means you don’t stop until you are out of danger, Israel is not out of danger. Hamas could change that immediately by releasing the hostages and surrendering.
Hamas is the elected government for Gaza so citizens of Gaza are part of the war. Hamas could have been nice and allowed the citizens into the tunnels instead of saying they were just for Hamas and the citizens where the responsibility of the UN.

The Palestinians had 3 chances for a 2 state solution that they themselves negotiated, but all the times they turn it down at the last minute because they don’t want a 2 state solution, they want Israel, and somehow they think if they get Israel, they get everything that Israel is today, but Israel is nothing without the Israeli people who live there.
