America's inevitable war with Iran

The ball is in Iran's court.

For several years the US has watched as Iran's Terrorist Guard has practiced small boat swarming tactics. They no have the tactic down pat.

BUT

The US has been practicing counter-measures to those tactics. Those tactics do represent a problem for the Navy, swarms are hard to deal with. Then everyone at Central Command put their heads together and wallah, they have the solution. They forward deployed some A-10's to Qatar. Ever seen what a formation of A-10's can do on a strafing run with the 37mm Gatling gun? Awesome!!!

Well punk! do ya feel lucky?:D:cool:

The USA overthrew the Iranian Government and installed a puppet dictator.

Eventually, the people of Iran took their country back from the USA by bloody revolution, during which 444 Americans were held hostage after the USA gave asylum to the Shah.

All Americans were released to the USA, none were killed.

The USA refused to return the Shah to Iran for trial, instead funding his exile in Egypt. After his death, the rest of his family were granted US Citizenship.

Since that time, Iran hasn't trusted the USA.

There hasn't been a true security threat in decades. The USSR fell a while back. Yes preparing and cosolidating forces already deployed is inviting a conflict. You could of course pull the troops back and start decreasing said presence.

Whatever adversary is closest geographically though in the case of proxy wars with whomever you're making a show of force to.

It applies to all nations but I only reside in one.

You do know that Iran just successfully launched an orbital satellite don't you?

You know what it takes to successfully put a satellite into orbit? It takes the EXACT SAME technology that it takes to launch an ICBM. You know, the one with the nuclear warhead that Iran's working on in conjunction with North Korea.

Tell us again that there's no true security threat in the region.

Last I heard the GAU-8A was 30 MM. Has the A-10 been refitted with a 37MM?

Must be nice to live in your own bubble of ignorance instead of the real world. Yes, we could park our military shut down the Pentagon and play like our only enemy is ourselves. Doing that of course would measure the rest of your life in weeks instead of years.

IRPG is such a distinguished organization, they're always willing to lend a helping hand and Murika bad! You need to review your propaganda. I don't think the Iranian people have their country back.

Ahhh, the good ole days.

There is no war coming with Iran. That would be the start of World War III. All the players (China, Russia, US, Islam, India, Pakistan, Chuck Norris) are still lining up their boards. Not quite ready yet.

In the Next World War Pool I have it happening in October 2022.

It is, don't know why I was thinking 37mm.

And yup, they got some Apaches over there as well. But the A-10's a LOT faster to the scene of the carnage.

Apaches, Cobras, and A-10s, would be the absolute end of any swarm of gun boats.;)

strange how when something cant be controlled, politicians seem to find that 'we' need a war

thatcher had the Falklands.

To all those who die as a result of politicians war hunger :rose:

Shit happens. often caused by politicians.

(chose the clip to get back at metallica)

Most warships have defensive weaponry that is bigger than what aircraft carry. And they have more of it and can shoot in multiple directions at once.

But, no matter which method is employed, Iran's little gunboats are guaranteed to lose that contest.

The best way to avoid war is to prepare for war. There has never been a country attacked because they were to strong or to prepared. There have been lots of countries attacked because they weren’t strong or prepared enough.

A shooting war n the Strait of Hormuz would certainly solve the domestic oil glut problem in the USA until November.

Should Iran provoke the US into sinking their gunboats, you can be sure that Iran will launch another missile strike into a neighboring country in retaliation.

After which point a lot of Iranians will die.

That's kind of like saying the best way to prepare for death is suicide.

Alliances, peace treaties, international war crime tribunals (ineffective cuz: USA), they are a step in the right direction for less wars. But other countries have to like you and sometimes you have to compromise. More weapons etc. just feeds the Industrial War Machine, as do wars without which there wouldn't be an Industrial War Machine. :)

No! more like having a sign on your front gate saying "beware of Rotti my dog"

Like in 1939? Perhaps Poland and France should have prepared better. One could also ask Kuwait about being prepared.

I would love a world without wars or the need to deter other countries. It's never happened in the history of mankind. I don't know why anyone would think that will change during our lifetimes.
