I tend to ask them for their home phone numbers so I can call them back.
...or ask them to call back when they can pronounce my name.
...or just laugh.
...ask them how many people bought their service today and then recommend improvements on their pitch (a la Boiler Room style)
...put the head set down and come back a few minutes to see if they are still talking
I get these calls several times a day according to my caller id so why not use them to relieve stress, amuse myself, and talk to new maybe not so interesting people?
Used to be where I only had a cell phone (which I recommend for anyone having trouble dealing with that nonsense) but roommates needed a house phone - bonus.

I actually got sucked in the other day. Bought the HBO package. Little did she know I would be unemployed two days later.

Not That Bad but
in my college days I was one of those people. Basically when it starts off with I am so and so from so and so would you be ...... Hey we all know the speal however I try to tell them I am not interested and get off the phone quickly. Those determined ones keep at you until all you can do is hang up. I was usually grateful to accept a person that said I am not interested. This way it gave me a chance to find somebody who was.
Hmm now thinking about it I probably was involved with some phone sex way back when without realizing it. How niave I was. Again not that bad you probably got their hopes up and then simply crushed them when you said no, but hey who are we to judge?

I remember my mate getting a call on his mobile (cell) phone, apparently it was a tele sales person, the call went something like this from what I can make of it.
*tele sales calls*

ts - hi, do you own a mobile phone?
mate - yes I do.
okay... now forget the rest of it... they call him on his mobile... to ask if he has one... HUH!?

usually i just hang up on telemarketers, but recently when one called i was in a bad mood so i just started screaming at them! they were none too pleased and actually hung up on me!
