It would be interesting to know if Playboy's contracts with contributing writers included electronic rights forty years ago (some were covered by the phrase "and every other form"--but not many did that long ago). If not, they either had to spend a lot of time/effort in gathering new permissions for they are opening themselves up to lawsuits. These folks don't always think about that before they start dumping things on line--Google certainly didn't.
