As of three hours ago (4am gmt) Monarch Airlines went into official receivership stranding up to 100,000 holidaymakers worldwide. The CAA have chartered 30 planes ✈️ to fly stranded passengers home.

Tell the holidaymakers to chill out for a bit. We will pick them up on the way home after delivering water to the islands.

If they're broke then you should be able to pick them up for a song. Leverage that lottery win into corporate control. Become a global player. Buy a condo in Tromp Tower. Cavort with the elites -- till the subpoenas sprout. Then, lawyer up.

You set aside a contingency fund, right? And you've bribed the right officials in a discreet country with no extradition, right? And since you own the airline, you can commandeer a flight to your safe (but eternal) refuge. Keep your bags packed and handy.

I'm terribly surprised to learn that there was a Monarch Airlines.

Being on the Mississippi, I do get to see monarchs migrate...

You'd think they have tiny crowns and scepters.

Just found out my friend flew to Spain on a golfing holiday with monarch last Saturday :D I can’t help but laugh :nana::nana::nana:

This is just an extremely small blip on the world wide news......

Only affects less than 1/2% of world's population, so who cares....

Butterfly effect
Domino effect
The ramifications throughout the airline industry could be untold

In Europe the competition between cheap short haul airlines is fierce.

RyanAir has cancelled thousands of flights because of lack of pilot hours; Monarch has failed; more airlines are vulnerable because their finances are weak.

At present cheap flights equals risk of cancellation but even the major carriers can have problems. Most European capitals are accessible by superfast rail services and allowing for airport delays before and during check in, and transfers both ends - rail can be quicker or as fast or slightly longer. But rail is far more comfortable than cattle-class aircraft.

Just found out that my friend flew out on monarch but is not covered for his flight home.
Phil Collins springs to mind “another day in paradise”
