Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Anyway the Captain Marvel that is part of the Marvel Universe (currently) and is getting the movie is Carol Danvers also known as Miss Marvel. If you're familiar with 90's X-Men she's basicaly Rogue-the energy absorption. In fact the reason Rogue (in the 90's) could fly and had super strength was because she had absorbed Ms. Marvel's powers permanently through prolonged contact. (actually I think that happened in the late 70's but it's not important if you're not a comic geek.)

This is the foundation of my favorite X-Men story of all time. In a nutshell, after flying back to Xavier's from Japan, Rogue checks their answering machine (lol) and hears a call for help from Michael Rossi who is undercover at SHIELD and has been discovered. She flies off in a rush to save him. She breaks into the helicarrier - dig this - by pitching a Susan B Anthony at such velocity that it wreaks havoc on the ship's internals. Anyway Rogue get's Rossi, who has had the living shit kicked out of him, and takes him to a beach house to nurse him back to health. She's doting on him, and referring to their past, how much being at the beach house was like the old days and how they used to bang and such, even cooking her signature soup recipe....Rossi is like, "Lady, we've never met." Rogue is in denial but then slowly begins to realize that she is Carol Danvers, who was a student and lover of Rossi. Rossi is equally pissed and heartbroken...Carol Danvers was more or less dead to him and Rogue was responsible, and now claiming to be her. It's a beautiful and tragic story that has Rogue go into seclusion after she realizes what happened. Storm comes after her and eventually, to save Rogue and preserve who she is, loses her own powers permanently at the hands of Henry Gyritch.

Well...as permanent as anything is in comics, but it felt real at the time. I never read where or how she got them back or how long it lasted. This story is the only reason I'm familiar with Carol Danvers and what happened to her. I've read tons of comics over the years but this story sticks with me. It was heavy stuff, I was eleven. :)

On another note, My Captain Marvel was a black lady from New Orleans.

you forget captain mar-vell, the pink kree with nega bands who died of cancer.

anyway, the short version is the trademark lapsed on the original captain marvel when they stopped publishing the comics in the 50's and marvel took advantage. that's basically it.

I did forget. Though to be fair even I hadn't I probably would have left him out. The modern movies have finally become sufficiently separate from the comics and more importantly sufficiently complicated that I wouldn't try to explain Tim Drake and Jason Todd to someone who's trying to understand when the fuck did Robin become Batman's son and Ra's Grandson. As soon as I learn a little about video making and the legal fair use laws in a bit more detail I keep saying I'm going to make a Marvel Abridged because holy shit. Assuming you watched everything back to back I think we're at something like four fucking days of MCU. I mean shit just between Agents and Carter you've got over two days without movies! Then Ironman x3, Thor x2, Cap x2, Hulk, Avengers X2, that's twenty (if they were all two hours), oh and Daredevil is another thirteen and Antman. And that's right fucking now. By the time the Infinte Wars break out. . .

Boring show.

Consistently top-rated and Season 3 starts in three weeks when most of your faves don't even get renewed for a S2. Boring that, beeyotch!

Here's an updated list from cNet on how the MCU should be watched chronologically:

http://cnet4.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/2015/04/30/828bbb20-dd6a-436a-8509-14f6557fd233/finalmarvelgraphicv4.jpg

I did a non-chronological binge of everything prior to Ultron earlier this year. It was exhausting but fun. I might try the chronological viewing sometime before Civil War opens next spring.

They say that The Incredible Hulk is skippable, but I disagree. It still has its place in the pecking order of things — Coulson even references Abomination in SHIELD S1 — and upon repeat viewing, still holds up on its own.

Honestly the real problem with the Incredible Hulk as it stands is how hard Marvel and Disney seem to have gone a bit out of their way to pretend it didn't happen. Sure there is that blurb about the Abomination which given Hulk's history doesn't REALLY mean anything. Certainly not any more than than say Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch qualify as acknowledging the X-Men.

I mean they went through all the trouble of setting up the Leader and thus far he hasn't even been in the background of anything. At this point I think he just died of exploding head.

Now, I would agree with you if you were talking the first Ang Lee Hulk flick with Eric Bana. But Marvel prominently included The Incredible Hulk along with its other pre-Avengers solo flicks in a "complete your Avengers collection today" style promo that can be viewed on The Avengers disc as well as Thor: Dark World and Winter Soldier. So, Marvel is not dismissing it in legacy even if the returning Gen. "Thunderbolt" Ross is not going to be canonically focusing/obsessing on Hulk in next summer's Civil War.

Also, I just remembered that Ruffalo's Banner mentioned his being Hulk wrecking Harlem in Avengers, so...yeah, I don't care what fickle fanboys have to say, TIH is still part of everything! :D

It's a within-canon off-screen possibility that Tim Blake Nelson's character might've gotten put on ice and Fridged by S.H.I.E.L.D. since they were liberally being mentioned throughout the entire movie. Hell, who knows what Season 3 might decide to come back and pull out the vaults with now that the team is getting comprised of people with Terrigen Mist-derived powers on the level of being considered Junior Avengers. Shit, I wouldn't even be surprised if Ward decides to go hunting for all the forgotten side plot homeboys himself in order to jumpstart Hydra back into the race. ;)

I'll buy that Marvel really gives a shit about Hulk when Leader shows up. Until then I think they are just cashing in on things they have lying around.

You're acting like Leader is/was the only problem Hulk has/had going on.

Does the scientist Jane Foster's conspicuous absence in both Avengers movies mean Marvel doesn't really care about Thor?

LEader and Ross really ARE the only problems Hulk has on any sort of regular basis. At least in my limited reading of his comics and keeping up with his cartoons.

As for Thor, you know the guy who provided the primary villain for the first movie, has a second movie already and a third in the works, does he matter more than the guy who doesn't seem to be getting a second movie at all?

I mean I guess he could be Black Widow or Hawkeye and not rate a solo movie at all.

spin-off?

so, I'm wondering - with all this talk of a Lance and Bobbi spin-off series, is there any good Mockingbird fan-fic that anyone can recommend?

Welcome back guys welcome back. You're about to step into an entire world of shit when infected fish start turning folks on all over the globe. I imagine this will be the 100% official reentry of S.H.I.E.L.D. into the MCU as an above ground legal entity? Actually what was their status as of now?

My guesstimated take is: with the creation of the highly visible Avengers Compound after the wake of Ultron and the re-emergence of Nick Fury as its director (?), I think S.H.I.E.L.D. will be for now, still remaining underground with Coulson running the show. Nick and Maria Hill are the only ones on the Avengers topside who know he's still alive after being revived. Also Nick and Maria didn't give out the deets on how they got the original pre-Insight S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier back for Ultron, which was Coulson's secret secret secret secret secret project (that even I didn't see coming.)

I would imagine by next spring's Civil War it's gonna come out about Coulson and the powered T-Misted Agents in S.H.I.E.L.D. being active, especially if they integrate the movie chronologically into the show's plotlines with the run-up and aftermath like they've been doing with all the flicks. The whole Hydra thing pretty much gave the show a better focus after people started writing it off as weak. Don't think they're gonna want to lose that momentum.

I wonder if all the (NYC) people who ate radiated fish sandwich dinners and get powered up are gonna start popping up in Daredevil, Jenny Jones and Luke Cage?

If you know anything about Marvel's Jessica Jones, it's that she's not your typical superhero. Fortunately, that's not stopping her from getting her very own show on Netflix. The streaming site has just released the first true teaser for the upcoming show, and it makes no secret of the fact that Jessica Jones (played by Krysten Ritter) is no Goody Two-shoes.

The show picks up after Jessica Jones retires from being a superhero and opens up her own detective agency in New York. From the clip, it looks like this newly-minted PI isn't much of a morning person, though she still has her superhuman strength.

Jessica Jones is the second of four Marvel shows exclusive Netflix. She, along with Daredevil, will eventually join Luke Cage and Iron Fist in Marvel's The Defenders sometime after each of their solo shows premiere next year. Jessica Jones premieres on November 20th.

8 Reasons Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Will Kick Butt This Season

by Sadie Gennis | Sep 28, 2015 2:01 PM EDT

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s third season picks up three months after the finale, which saw the Terrigen crystals enter the eco-system, Ward (Brett Dalton) take over Hydra, Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) get sucked into a Kree stone and so much more. So what does this mean for the members of S.H.I.E.L.D. going forward? Here are eight things to expect in Season 3:

1. Daisy has finally come into her own: After two seasons of self-discovery, Daisy (Chloe Bennet) is now a full-fledged superhero badass. Instead of being defined by her father-daughter relationships with Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Cal (Kyle MacLachlan), she'll step into a leadership role within S.H.I.E.L.D., helping roundup the Inhumans who have been affected by the Terrigen with Mack (Henry Simmons).

"One of the things that's been great about the character is we spent two years taking a regular woman and turning her into a superhero and trying to earn it," executive producer Jeffrey Bell tells TVGuide.com. "We're putting her more into a role where she's her own person. And putting her out there on her own and giving her opportunities to make more decisions and leading more when it's appropriate. "

2. Ward is going after S.H.I.E.L.D. with everything he's got: Ward is not exactly a forgive-and-forget kind of guy. And now that he has all the resources of Hydra at his fingertips, his quest for vengeance against Coulson and S.H.I.E.L.D. will pose even more of a threat. "He'sinterested in putting together a team," Bell says. "He's a little angry at S.H.I.E.L.D. and I think he would love to make them suffer a little bit. I think a little personal retribution might be in the cards."

3. The show will take its time with Secret Warriors: Rather than jump right into Secret Warriors, S.H.I.E.L.D. will take its time building up the organization. "Right now, we come into a world of Inhumans and really exploring what it means to be Inhuman in all the different ways," Bell explains. "Daisy's Inhuman because she's biologically so. Coulson lost a hand and is wrestling with, 'What does it means to be human?' So coming into this season, I think we're much more interested in exploring those as we build toward this idea of putting together a team that might react or respond or engage with other Inhumans around the world."

4. S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't the only organization hunting Inhumans: When it comes to tracking down Inhumans, S.H.I.E.L.D. members will find themselves constantly one step behind a government black ops agency lead by Constance Zimmer's mysterious new character. But there's also a third clandestine organization hunting down the Inhumans that might be even more nefarious than Zimmer's.

5. There's still some hope for Ward: Don't think that because Ward is now the head of Hydra that he is officially beyond redemption. "I would say nobody is ever beyond redemption," Bell says. "One of the things we love is people either loving or hating Ward, so we write that intentionally so people can play along at home. We love the way Brett portrays Ward and all the complexities of that. A lot of people want him redeemed, and a lot of people want him thrown out of the plane. I think both instincts are reasonable and they're a lot of fun to write."

6. Bobbi and Hunter are out for revenge: When the show picks up, Bobbi (Adriana Palicki) will continue to struggle with the consequences of the brutal beating she endured in the finale and Hunter (Nick Blood) is still - rightfully -- pissed at Ward for trying to kill him. So it should come as no surprise that the couple will lead the charge against Ward, all the while navigating their evolving relationship. "I would say both Bobbi and Hunter now, in particular, have a personal ax to grind with Ward as much as he has with them," Bell says. "Who they are as a couple and as individuals will continue to develop. But I do feel there will be changes and growth for both of them, particularly in light of what happened at the end of the season."

7. May is considering leaving S.H.I.E.L.D. for good: As we previously reported, May (Ming-Na Wen) will find herself reconsidering her place at S.H.I.E.L.D.. And in an ironic twist, while May's frustration with S.H.I.E.L.D. is at an all-time high, her ex-husband Andrew (Blair Underwood) will decide to work with them again. "That there was definitely a lot of corruption to S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as uncertainty now with the Inhumans being brought in by Coulson," Wen says. "It's going to be figuring out her final decision in Season 3 and I think Andrew will probably play a part in it."
Whatever May decides, Bell says viewers will be happy with her evolution this season. "Our goal is for everyone to be constantly growing and changing," jhe says. "I think people will find what's up with May interesting and hopefully a little surprising and satisfying."

8. We will see Simmons again: Though the rest of S.H.I.E.L.D. has given up hope of finding out what happened to Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) refuses to stop searching. Unfortunately, Fitz's desperation to get Simmons back leads him down a dangerous path where he shows just how willing he is to put himself at risk for any clue as to Simmons' whereabouts. Fortunately, S.H.I.E.L.D. won't hide keep Simmons' location a mystery for too long. Within the first episode, viewers will get their first glimpse at what happened to the plucky scientist.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres Tuesday at 9/8c on ABC.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Is Back and Better Than Ever

September 29, 2015 By MAXIM STAFF

Because we need to fill the void in our hearts until Captain America: Civil War is released, we're extremely thankful for these previews for the upcoming season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 kicks into high gear tonight on ABC, but until the time comes, join us as we bask in the glory of Marvel's appearance on primetime.

Ward isn't beyond redemption? Man there are some forgiving people in the Marvel Universe if that's true.

And I say this from the point of view of someone who thinks Loki is at worst neutral with bitchy tendencies.

S3 Premiere Episode Recap:

So, Skye - or Daisy/Quake - is ripped as fuck. She was on that Billy Blanks Tae-Bo tip over the summertime!

Terrigen after-effects are all over the joint now. Mutants popping up like frogs in the rain. Wouldn't be surprised if they cross over into the Marvel Netflix properties.

Need to keep that dude that was melting metal.

Badass new Bus. Shit is slick. Especially that flying lockdown pod.

Government agency lady looks ice queen scary.

Civil War deets are being seen. Gonna be great to see how the show flows into the movie next year.

There's some big-ass Predator-looking dude who can take head-on both Lincoln's electric and Daisy's seismic blasts.

Fitz was off being James Bond Lite and is losing his grip over Simmons' disappearance.

And Simmons has been transported to another world through the Kree artifact? Where the fuck is Thor or the Guardians Of The Galaxy when you really need them?

I need to watch this ep again though, because I got happy drunk right after Limitless ended and everything afterwards is a bit hazy! :D

Dude, I take back what I said about Skye not being hot. She was smoking last night.
