Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

God that makes the Winter Soldier set up that much better.

But as for the Council's call I stand by nuking New York repeatedly and often was a viable plan. Sure we as the audience knew the Avengers would find a way but that was the basically an advance guard and Hulk and Thor were the only ones who seemed capable of taking down Leviathans. In addition Loki moved a lot of unecessary pieces. To quote the honorable Vincent Kennedy McMahon

Loki screwed Loki.

If Hydra was halfway running SHIELD shit back at that point as it seems to be implied, then nuking New York would've been an extremely bad business decision and I would've strongly questioned that leadership's mindset.

Then again, Chitauri and shit like that!

****SPOILERS. I'M SPOILIN' THEM SHITS*****

Hidden the best I can. Highlight to see...else, get along.

MORE May and Bobbi busting ass! Less May not acting like May.
Not happy with the reveal at all. Contrived horseshit from where I sit.
Blair Underwood is peripheral at best and only serves to give May's character some depth, and now to put her in an emotional quandary when she inevitably will have to decide whether to kill him or not. Here's hoping this wraps up as fast as Jemmaaaaaa Innnnnn Spaaaaaaaace!

Here's the thing, Hydra in this set up clealry isn't quite as black and white as it occasionally is in the comics. In fact they seem to be a lot closer to the the way the Light and various other team ups in DC comics are. Pro-Earth, Fuck you. And Pro-Order, Fuck you.

Nuking New York would have kept us safe at least in the short term. It would also have at least in some ways furthered their plans. Had the attack on New York gone basically anyway other than how it had there would be nobody at all arguing that having a fleet of Tri-Carriers is a good idea. We'd probably hem and haw a lot less too.

I kinda disagree with this, because Dr. Andrew Garner, whom we've really only known topically through being May's ex and the SHIELD psychologist, now gives Lash serious weight and a reason for being something other than a disposable Hulk-like bad guy cartoon come-to-life that came out of nowhere. Apparently Lash is a multifaceted character in the comics and it stands to reason to give him this same weight in the MCU. He also advances another Inhumans connection plot vector with past history like how Daisy/Skye's Inhuman mama was making moves around SHIELD in the past. If anything, this also gives more room to branch out May's backstory further. Overall, there's gonna be a definite meeting-of-the-minds convergence at some point with everyone's identities out in the open and their former relationships will give that gravitas.

It also doesn't seem like Jenna's space dude is exactly what he appears to be, either. If Fitz figures out how to create a working portal through jazz-handed math...:D

Looking forward to seeing how all these peccadilloes develop by the end of the S3's first half!

You know what I look forward to? Not being blind because Lit doesn't have a spoiler system. It's just stupid.
Sean Renaud is Numbah 1!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not that either of your systems was wholly unnacceptable but encase you never figured it out you can just use the white font and tell people to quote you. I do it all the time but mostly as to play around cus some people ALWAYS quote even if they are the next response so it's easy to slip in.

It's not perfect, there is an actual spoiler and robdownsouth or Ulaven Demorte knows it but I sure as fuck don't. This is one of the few forums I know that doesn't just have it as one of the buttons.

Last night's ep was solid. Coulson finally knocked some boots! Doesn't look like it's gonna be a good thing, though! :D

Chaos Theory Reveals How Agents Of SHIELD Season 3 Sets Up Civil War... Plus, Hints You Might Have Missed!

By Eleanor Tremeer ⋅ Posted on November 11th, 2015 at 7:53am

Agents of SHIELD Season 3 is coming along nicely: S03E07 Chaos Theory wasn't the best episode of the bunch, but with an emotionally poignant plotline and plenty of Inhuman revelations it helps to set up many story threads as we rocket towards the mid-season finale. And let's not forget all those juicy references to the wider MCU! Let's take a look back on the main hints from Chaos Theory, and bring on the speculation...

Civil War Set Up

After showing the fallout from Winter Soldier, we're expecting Agents of SHIELD to feed into Civil War in a similar way, and there are plenty of hints in Chaos Theory as to how it might do just that.

Just to refresh your memory: the Civil War movie is sidestepping the comics' Registration Act to use a "system of accountability and governing body" as the catalyst for conflict between the heroes.

"I am the cure!"

Agents Of SHIELD season 3 is really running with the theme of control, and Chaos Theory took this to a new level, with Andrew obsessed with taking out dangerous Inhumans as the ATCU continues in their mission to... take out dangerous Inhumans. So the possibilities for Civil War basically come down to:

• The ATCU is the new governing body to control the Avengers

• A "more legitimised SHIELD" will return to the MCU films, as a system of accountability for the Avengers!

The last possibility was hinted at through Coulson's meeting with the President, though that's probably just a trap orchestrated by Gideon Malick and (shock horror!) Rosalind Price.

With Kevin Feige claiming the MCU films and shows will start to crossover more, seeing SHIELD back in the movies is a distinct possibility (and the Avengers might finally know Coulson is alive!). But this isn't the only film Chaos Theory is setting up...

Just Where Is Jemma's Planet?

Chaos Theory's sub plot saw Fitz investigate Jemma's time on the mysterious planet, and went a long way to develop the relationship between SHIELD's science bros. (That sunrise scene broke my heart a little bit tbh.) But emotion aside, Jemma's planet is highly likely to provide plot hints for Phase 3 movies! Let's narrow down the possibilities.

Hala: this planet is the centre of the Kree empire, and features heavily in the original Captain Marvel's plotline. If this is Jemma's planet, it would help set up the Captain Marvel solo movie!

Svartalfheim: aka the home of the Dark Elves we saw in Thor 2 - could this be a Thor: Ragnarok hint?

The Dark Dimension: this one's less likely, but as Agents Of SHIELD season 2 laid some plot hints for Doctor Strange (via Darkforce), having Jemma use her new portal to explore the Dark Dimension would do a lot to get fans excited for the Strange movie next year!

And speaking of Jemma's planet, did Fitz unearth a crucial connection to the Marvel Comics?

Ancient SHIELD

Fitz definitely donned his foil conspiracy theorist hat this episode, as he pointed out the similarities between this ancient symbol and NASA's project logo...

As Bobbi and Hunter said, I'm inclined to think Fitz is reaching a bit with this connection. But if Agents Of SHIELD has proved nothing else, it's that there's a secret organisation behind pretty much any major event! The possibilities are endless as to what this group might be, but it could be a reference to comic writer Jonathon Hickman's version of SHIELD, which was established centuries before the 20th Century!

Or this could be another evil organisation like HYDRA, or something completely unconnected to the comics. Only time will tell for this one. But there is one secret organisation that's coming along nicely...

Rise Of The Secret Warriors!

We know that at some point Daisy will assemble a new team of Inhumans to become the Secret Warriors, thanks to hints from the showrunners and this telling poster.

Chaos Theory helped to develop this plotline, with Lincoln coming out of hiding and Daisy saving Rosalind's life with her powers. It seems that the combined effort to take down Lash helped to prove Inhumans aren't all bad. Joey's reappearance also went a long way in setting up Secret Warriors - he even asked to join Coulson's new team of agents with powers! Hopefully we'll see this soon, though the team probably won't assemble (heh) until after the mid-season hiatus.

There's plenty more to unpack from this episode (I especially like how the idea of an Inhuman cure is getting dealt with much better than the Mutant cure was in X-Men 3), but for now I'll leave it there. Did you spot any hints we missed? Let us know in the comments, or write your own post!

Most forums I go to it's just a button not a trick you need to learn. I also don't like the way this one just opens and shuts instead of revealing. On many forums you can write something you know is too long an spoil it away so it doesn't just devastate people who want the point not the fluff.

there used to be a button. it disappeared the last time they updated the board software, i think. whenever it happened it was fucking ages ago.

And they could get rid of the html tag button seeing as HTML isn't enabled.

If it existed when I got here I long since forgot about it. Hell I might not even have known what it was at the time.

oh, it was forever ago. nipples used to use it in his sig. i actually don't know when exactly it vanished. i just know it was there and then it wasn't. damn you, laurel.

I dunno, Zum. You're mirroring my thoughts here mostly, only what you find reasonable about it....I am kinda frowning on. I liked this episode, so I'm gonna wax on it a bit. Regarding Lash I guess I prefer the source material to this interpretation for the moment. Lash as a character in comics is interesting all on his own, not as a means to flesh out backstory. Lash is OG inhuman and he believes in his quest for specific reasons. And I like him alternatively as a threat to the team that does come out of nowhere, he's fucking scary! Everyone doesn't need to be connected. That makes it seem like they could take him out at anytime, but won't, and instead want to help him so they hold back because he's one of theirs. Fuck that...how about Lash will tear that goddamn plane apart because he doesn't know these people or care about them. He should be robbing them of choices! Making them desperate! He's driven by instincts and history to do a thing and fuck what's in the way - this is what should give him serious weight. If you're the one in the way...you have to put the rabid dog down, or maybe you have to run your ass off if you can't. But this concept of an Inhuman cure? Trying to talk it out and penning him up until they can use it, like it's that easy? ....ugh. Like the man said...he is the cure. They don't even know why he does what he does.

From my perspective, he isn't establishing a connection at all to the events of the inhumans that have been portrayed in the show. At least not yet. He just got dusted a few months ago, and we're to believe that "Lash" as a complete personality just came to be? With knowledge of inhumans and what they are, their history, and an ideology that informs him of who of them should live and die? 'FUCKOUTTAHERE lol. In the show his existence fits as a natural reaction to the controls that Afterlife no longer offers. At least in the comic story they are dabbling with, Lash was alive when masses were exposed to Terrigan and he felt he had a duty. I can buy that in this world he could be some sort of evolutionary manifestation...but they need to sell that better because I'm not seeing it.

At least May knew that putting him down was on the table, taking action that she knew might kill him and judging that to be the right choice. So May is acting more like May again. Frankly I don't want her as a character to get all gooey with love and emotions....she is the "Lash" of team Coulson. She gives the hard facts, she makes hard decisions fast, and she'll bust your ass when it's time to for your own good. And she'll rarely justify it because it's what she does and it owes no explanation.

WHeeee!
