Did anyone else hear about the Rev. Jesse Jackson's affair? He 'supposedly' admitted to having an affair during the same time he counseled Clinton on his. If this is in fact true, does anyone else feel the irony?

So to make this some kind of discussion, I'll turn this into a some sort of question. Do you want to know about famous people's affairs? Do you wish the media and the public, those of us who do like to know those type of things, minded their own business? Or are you the type who likes to know what is going on in their private lives?

If you can't tell, I happen to not want to know. I get the fact that they are human and make mistakes too, so I don't need to see it on the news and such whenever it happens.

I think it has something to do with the whole, "Do as I say, not as I do," attitude.

Does anyone know who this woman is?

How can you NOT feel it? It's like you've just been face slapped,,, gotta love those preachy type folks !

Care about the affairs of the rich and (in)famous,,,??

Nope, not at all,,, whether they be human or not,,, I could just care less.

Who told you? It was suppose to be a secret between Expertise and I!!

:p

His lady will get 120,000 a year funneled through the corporations the "Reverend" Jackson shakes down. Just another example of Democratic Leadership at its finest.
Kinda makes one proud, don't it?

Whos personal life is it anyway!

For those of you who just can't get enough of the Enquirer and just got to know all about Bill Clinton's rendevous with Monica, Let me ask you a question??? Would you want the world to know that "YOU" are FUCKING around on YOUR wife??? Somehow I don't think so. But if you do? WELL THEN! let me know who she is so I can send it to the Enquirer for all enquiring minds!!!! Because. . . . . Enquiring minds DO WANT TO KNOW!

We are all human beings and we all have feelings and emotions that we act upon sometimes even though we shouldn't . It is just human nature. Right wrong or indifferent it is a part of life and happens. But just because we screw up and make a mistake doesn't mean that we should be branded for life because of it. Even if you are Demi Moore or Bruce Willis or even DCL! A personal life is just that no matter who you are and it should be kept that way. I don't want to know WHERE YOU'VE BEEN WHAT YOU WERE DOIN OR EVEN WHO YOU WERE DOIN IT WITH!!!!! And neither should anyone else!

Ok, but these people have grown up in this society just like you and me and know that once they become a "public figure" their lives are just that, public. What am I trying to say?

Bill didn't have to run for president. Should have been a carpet layer, there is more privacy.

I agree that your personal life shoud stay just that BUT when you go around spewing your racist , close-minded ,self righteous opinions in the face of others along with trying to force the word of the Lord down others throats...wanting the world to treat you as a fine upstanding role model and leader of young black men , then you choose to sleep with an employee of your organization, have a child out of wedlock, embarrass your wife and children, break the law of the book you so love to quote, then you deserve what fate brings you.

I agree...the irony is to be relished.

"Public" people should not have "Public" lives. They should be just as private as yours and mine. It is society that choooses(and the media)to know what goes on in their private lives because they have nothing better to do in life or their own life just sucks so bad that they are not interested in their own lives; Just the lives of others that excite them.

As for the Reverend Jesse Jackson; I do agree with you on his case. This is where he DIDN'T practice what he preached!

Lady Macbeth

Henry VIII was talk of the town, so was Ceasar, and probably King Tut. You're right, maybe their lives SHOULD be private, but they aren't, nor have they ever been. People KNOW this before they ever enter into public life. That's all I'm saying.

The public has an insatiable curiosity about the private lives of public figures. That's why there are so many tabloids out there - they sell, and sell big! Hell, people don't even care if the stories are true. (Juspar's sig line must be the motto of a tabloid writer: Never let the truth stand in the way of a good story.)

I was completely baffled when the whole thing with Clinton's affair dragged on for months on end. Who cares? Does anyone still care? Why don't they just shut up about it?

Personally, I don't want to know. I can identify only a handful of the biggest Hollywood stars on sight. I don't remember names, I don't remember which star is supposedly sleeping with (or even married to) which other star. Probably because I just don't care! I don't get the fascination.

But yeah, that Jesse Jackson. What a hypocrite. LOL

edit: I was wrong, it's not Juspar's sig line. Whose IS that?? Whatever, I like it. :)

Gee...

...wish I was a celebrity. We're writing a book about our affair (Diary of an Affair) and just hoping to sell a few measly copies!

I am not a celebrity, but am somewhat known in my area due to my willingness to speak out about what happened to my son. I have done local television shows & have been invited to appear on national shows. I haven't done the national shows because I am not ready to give up any more of my privacy than I already have. I knew that I would give up some privacy when I made the decision to speak out. I think that most public figures realize that they give up a measure of privacy, but I also think it can go too far. Many people condemn the media, but they are doing a job & if people didn't want to see/read/hear about celebrities, it wouldn't sell. What the Jesse Jackson incident shows is that he is human, just like the rest of us. Where he made his mistake is in the fact that he set himself up as a role model & proved that he is a hypocrite. If he wants people to look up to him, he has to be worthy. Bill Cosby is the same way, he puts himself out there as this great family man, while denying his out of wedlock daughter. Michael Landon put himself out there as being such a great family man, he had 3 different wives & 3 batches of kids. I don't think that any of these men is how I would want my dad to be. There I go, off on another tangent.

Ok, yes, everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone “cheats” on a relationship to which they have made a solemn vow to be committed. Love is not just a “warm fuzzy feeling” or a product of “chemistry” between two people. Love is a choice. To break the vow to that love is also a choice.

Like Swaggart, Jackson has been a leader of men, and not just black men—he’s supposed to be a man of God, a man of honor, a man of “character”. His choice to blow it all away for “chemistry” is, to say the least, extremely disappointing and hypocritical. And, like Swaggart, like King David, he could lose everything.

“It takes a village to raise a child”, isn’t that what Clinton said? Do I want this man, the head of our country of “villages” to help raise my child? Like it or not, as the leader of our country, as our commander in chief, he is our #1 role model. I daresay, he couldn’t very well have campaigned with the attitude of “I want to be your president, but I’m going to do as I please with my private life and it won’t be a good role model for your kids,” now could he?

Well, there's my two cents. Now I gotta find some more pennies.

I've avoided posting so far - these kind of threads usually just annoy me but...

How do we know he cheated? How do we know anything of the sort? How do we know that Hillary and Bill don't have an understanding? An open marraige? That it was OK with her for him to play around? And maybe vice versa? I can't say this is true anymore than any of you can say for a fact that its not true - but its as good a possibility as anyone else's speculations.

I do know that if it was true they sure weren't about to come out in public and admit it... that would have been even more of a scandal!

But here - of all places - I think we could consider that as a possibility - there are people we talk to here every day who are in similar circumstances.

I only have one question

Why do the guys who are the biggest pieces of shit get all the pussy?

I hate when that happens.

Amen Dillinger! My sentiments exactly. We only know what other people want us to know and sometimes that is not all truth and fact! For that; we should have no right other peoples lives as "public knowledge".

How do we know?

At the time, I didn't know all the facts, and I'm not saying I know the all now, but I know more.

Jackson put out a statement to the press just this morning telling of the affair, and the love child. I would think that this was true for the simple fact that he has everything to lose by this and nothing to gain. But maybe he has some secret plan that he can only carryout with people thinking he's the type to have affairs?
