Am I the only person who really gets a bit queasy feeling as I watch the new Cantor Fitzgerald commercials that are all over the TV? It's like they are saying, you better utilize our services and pay a pretty penny, because our people were victims of September 11th. Maybe I'm just being negative, but these commercials really are bothersome.

Yeah, I've seen them. It's not the first time that Sept 11th is going to be used as a marketing/election tool and it certainly won't be the last.

Mostly when I've seen the ads that strike me as the most egregious, I note who the companies are and make sure that they don't get a single dime of my business. There's just something obscene about some of those ads.

Advertising: True Manipulation of Emotions to Fuel Our Capitalist Economy - maybe I'm being a tad cynical, but that doesn't feel new to me. The purpose of ad agencies is to get us to buy their client's product by any legal means, and any illegal means they think they could get away with.
I just let them do their thing, and try to ignore it.

You think that's bad? I just watched Minority Report, and in it there are interactive billboards which do retinal scans of the people that walk by and then try to sell them products by using their name.

It's bad enough when I get spam e-mails that do that. In real life, it would be downright freaky.
