Ace Combat Zero (OOC and Casting Call)

Ok guys, free to post normally. You can even assume the meeting is over. Sorry if I'm not posting now, I'm tired from proving to some retard that Final Fantasy XII borrows character concepts, atmosphere and plot from Star Wars.

...

Yeah, I know... I know...

that wouldn't be jeff, would it?

No. It is in a Spanish forum, in which people seem to be capable of reaching unparalleled levels of stupidity.

Ok, I haven't played the goddamn videogame. So? Others have, and Wikipedia is another resource, and game reviews... and all support that notion. So excuuuuuuuse me if I think it IS true that FFXII uses SOME details from Star Wars...

Geeze, it's not like I said FFXII was plot plagiarism...

Anyway, in the end, I did post...

well, while I agree that much of the plot reminds me of Star Wars, and Dragonlance, and dozens of other scifi and fantasy stories, i would like to state that it is also true that Wiki is self editable. I had this argument with jeff. Anyone can write ANYTHING they want in a wiki article, and delete anything they want as well. last I checked, no one ever goes over the wiki articles for accuracy, indeed, it may not even be possible to do so

as for my own personal thoughts on FF12...it is NOT a Final Fantasy game, no matter what anyone says

Look, you can flame on Wikipedia all you want. But damn it if it isn't the easiest to access depository of information in the world. Besides, it's not like there is a brigade of coordinated people changing all articles!

i'm not bashing it. I'm just saying i don't trust the information completely. depending on the subject, i sometimes use other sites. just remember to doublecheck anything you find on there.

moving right along, where's Steiner?

Aha... I wondered if anyone from the first SRP might show up... ^^

Speaking of which, I apologize for my tardiness, Kat. May I join in? I enjoyed the last RP (and the conversations we've had before, during and after :p ).

There are usually a panel of self-appointed experts that keep most topics up to date - including rewinding retarded edits and deletions.

I wrote the Cipher section of the English Wiki for Ace Combat: X

Sure thing, Kaska, go ahead.

I wasn't suggesting you were going insane on Wikipedia, dragon. I just chose the kinda not quite right (and somewhat wrong) verb.

it's okay...you should have seen Jeff's response when i told him i didn't trust wiki...then again, i often use google for info...a lot of that is bound to be crap

steiner vanished on us again, didn't he?

Name: Luisa Sta. Vianna

Age: 22

Nationality: Ustio

Job: Mercenary pilot (ex-Ustio airforce)

Call sign: Snow Angel

Personal plane: JA-37 Viggen, upper half painted in varying shades of green and brown, the underbelly a very light grey, almost white. The canopy and windshield are black-lined and the single vertical stabilizer is decorated with a cartoonish, white, haloed griffin on both sides. Her name and former UAF rank are stenciled in black, just under the canopy. On close inspection, patches of new paint can be seen in some places.

Description: A healthily tanned, long-legged woman, the 51.7 kg Luisa will never be mistaken for “chubby”, but that doesn’t stop her baggy flight suit from hanging off her body. She stands 1.72m tall, her mischievous green eyes peering out from an unruly mop of brown hair so dark it looks black under certain lighting. Her hair is cut, unevenly, to just below her collar, openly flirting with regulation length.

Personality: Perpetually cheerful, chronically irreverent, Luisa tries to find the bright spot in any situation. She makes friends as easily as the smiles appear on her face.

Steiner might not have posted in the last few hours, but that doesn't mean he's left. Sometimes we get tired of posting and spend one day or more without posting, resting up a bit. But Steiner doesn't seem to have spent that much time offline, either, so...

Sorry about that - I don't have posting access to Lit from work - and for some reason the post I thought I'd put up kinda vanished.

Ah well.

Ok, time to talk about weapons.

I don't mind if you guys use real names, but since this is based in Ace Combat, I'll tell you what weapons you would usually find in the game (and no, there is no special effect to what they will do in this RP... it's just for flavour):

Machine-gun (DUH).
Multi-Role Missiles: Not excellent at tracking targets, exactly, and short-ranged, but they are both AA and AS. I would imagine these would be the cheapest weapons.
SAAM: Powerful, long-ranged, good maneuverability, but have to keep the target inside the targetting reticle till the missile hits.
QAAM: Highly maneuverable, short-ranged chasing missiles. As powerful as the other special ones.
XMAA: Long-ranged, poor maneuverability, fire-and-forget, multiple target tracking (up to four missiles can be fired at four different targets at the same time).
XLAA: Extreme range, horrible maneuverability, multiple target tracking.

That's for AA weapons.

UGB: Un-guided bomb. Small, powerful, not much range.
UGLB: Un-guided large bomb. Wider blast radius, powerful.
GPB: Guided Penetrating Bomb, for bunker-busting, reduced blast radius but very powerful against anything. Long-range.
NPB: Napalm bomb. The fire extends in a lane, moved by inertia.
FAEB: Fuel air explosive bomb. Think a cloud of fire, kinda like napalm but spread widely. Not always effective against armored targets. Pretty rare, only dedicated attacker planes can use it (like the F-117, for example, if Uriem wants to play rough).
BDSP: Bomblet Dispenser. The airplane drops multiple mini-bombs stored in a huge deposit-like piece, the latter remaining attached to the airplane.
SFFS: Self-Forging Fragment Submunitions. Same as above, but in a wider area. God against tanks. Can be fired from a high altitude.
SOD: Stand-off dispenser. Cluster bombs dropped from a missile-like transporter. Long-ranged.

RCL: Rocket launchers. Fires a salvo of unguided projectiles.
LASM: Long-range air-to-surface missile. It stays a distance above the ground, then dives down to hit the target. Specially effective against ships.
LAGM: Same as above, but better in hitting multiple targets close together. Not quite as powerful as bombs.
XAGM: Short-ranged, multiple target tracking missiles. For those days when tanks are a bother.

ECMP: Electronic Counter-Measure Pod. When used, it negates radar use in a wide area around the aircraft. Few models can sport this. Mostly, naval-based fighters and attackers. Works both against air and ground enemies.

This is just a short guide to the game's mechanics. Feel free to go for realism, although this is simpler and easier to grasp.

FAEB's will pretty much nuke every living thing under them when they go off. The blast wave alone will crush every bone in your body to chalk. If something absolutely HAS to die, then by god Uriem's going to be dropping one straight down their throat.

And I played Ace Combat myself and found XMAA's and XLAA's to be pretty much god. One good multi-lock could wipe out almost half a squadron in one pass. Almost every fighter I flew had those as a necessity. I'll probably slap a few of those into my sweet lil Void to give my flying, invisible boat a bit of AA capabilities.

Thanks for the head's up, Kat!

Steiner, the base isn't alcohol free. The mess is. There is a bar nearby where you can go.

The pilots simply have to undergo a quick alcohol check before riding, and if they are in no condition to go up, they get some pay docked.

I know the rest of you guys are probably busy and all, so I apologize for myself and RedMageNeko for "taking over."

Kat introduced me to the Ace Combat setting (never played it) and Literotica, so I feel obligated to do my best to contribute to the roleplay.

& Kat, I hope you feel better soon!

i'm sort of stuck at the moment....if i do anything, it'd be responding to my own post...

Oh, I understand the problem there. It's just that, with so many posts by only two people, I felt the need to say something. :)

yeah...looks like you two may be the only ones posting today << i dunno if anyone else will be on

Well, I'll try to be on, but I got work most of the day sadly. -Sigh.- If only everything didn't cost money.

May I still join?

If I can, does this group of people actually post lengthy posts that you have something worth reading? lol

I write lengthy posts with substance.

>__> What's wrong with our posts? I'm happy with them. Though admitidly, I wish I was doing better. Just been a rough week for me, so my writing has suffered.

haha nothing, I didn't even realize the real thread had started.

Do you think I can still join in?
