Asking for a friend.

My friend submitted a story on this site and was anxiously waiting for it to be published. The next thing, she is not able to log in. It says, "You are not allowed to log in". She says her story was under romance category. I have read her draft and its quite clean apart from desirable sex scenes.

She was discourages and does not wish to try again with another account. It wasn't only account ban but also the bombardment of forum messages in her account that killed her interest.

I am just curious on what might have happened. Does anyone knows about accounts bans and can shed some light?

An account ban is usually associated with behaviour on forums, or where the site determines someone is repeatedly spam posting in story comments.

I've been here ten years, and the only real story side misdemeanours that will get an account cancelled are plagiarism. Content breaches get stories rejected, but I've never heard of an account being banned because of content.

Is your (asking for a) friend telling the whole story?

This seems... odd. I can only imagine a couple of reasons a new member would be bombarded, and none of them involve innocence on the part of the message recipient.

I think you're not getting the full story. as @ElectricBlue says, account bans are not done at the drop of a hat...

Was her user name "Realhotwife37"?
Oh.

hope you are not being sarcastic, but her account name was "sweetnicole" and she said she had hardly responded on one or two odd posts.

Oh you mean the story submission might have just been a coincident?

I did not asked details as even I get 1 or 2 random stray messages whenever I am online. Are you suggesting ban the might be related to the messages?

Probably. If there was an issue with the story, it would have been rejected, and the author given a chance to address the issue. Story content alone won't get you banned.

It could also be a technical glitch.

On a hunch, I went looking.

But that's not all! We have three incredible children who are like angels to me. Two tween stepdaughters from my Sweety's first marriage and a hunky boy of my own. My daughters are more like sisters and lovers. My son is the true man of the house. It's like he has his own little harem with me and his darling step sisters.

Note to self... don't trust when your friend says but they didn't do anything

Tale as old as time.

I remember watching a movie once, can't remember the name of it for the life of me, but something that was said in it has always stuck with me:

In any story there are three things - your story, my story and what actually happened. And it's seldom that two of them agree.

This is why, frankly, authors can be forgiven if they seem a bit cynical or skeptical when people come to this forum and complain about unfair treatment. In my experience, the majority of time there's something we're not being told that makes the treatment completely obvious.

I try not to be jaded, but if you've seen horses 99 times after hearing hoofbeats, the 100th time is unlikely to be a zebra.

I think of myself as a big Occam's Razor believer, but what I love about this saying is that . . . sometimes it's zebras. Once I was stopped at a light in my car, saw a flash of movement, thinking it was, weirdly, a horse running in the street, and it turned out to be a zebra. It was being transported somewhere and had escaped from its trailer.

You won't believe the coincidence, but I was just walking down the street and also saw a zebra crossing.
