Okay this is probably really dumb but I need help (shup if you think I need more help than from this question). I do not want to unsubscribe to my threads but I do not want 100 email's a day letting me know about posts. How do I turn the email thing off?

The next time you post, scroll to the bottom and un-click the e-mail notification box before you submit.

Go into the User CP (control panel), go to edit options, and check no for "use email notification by default".

I think that these only apply to unsubscribed threads. I don't think that they apply to subscribed ones do they? Isn't part of the subscribe feature to send you notification? I don't think that there is any way around it.

I found this under f.a.q.

What is email notification?
If you post a new thread, or reply to an existing thread, you can choose to be notified by email when someone else replies to that thread. You can also choose to receive email notifications of new posts in a thread without posting in that thread, by clicking the 'Receive updates to this thread' link displayed in the thread page.

If you choose to stop receiving email notifications from a thread, you can turn off the option by either editing your post, or by unsubscribing from the thread.

I have the same question. And another--on other fora which use this same software, when someone responds to a thread to which you are subscribed, you only receive notification of that first response and no further responses until you visit the board. On Lit, it seems like I get a notification of EVERY post on those threads, even if I have not visited the board between notices. What gives?

Thats exactly what happens if you don't unsuscribe to the e-mail nofication. Every response triggers an e-mail notice. Follow the steps above.

Okay so if I unsubscribe and resubscribe it should fix the problem? I actually like the email notifications but my email account is already over flowing as we speak.

If you re-subscribe I think that you will get the email notifications again. There seem to be 2 ways here. No subscription and no emails, unless you specifically request them when you post a reply or, subscription and unlimited emails.

Ok I have the opposit problem but thought I would share. I rarely get my notifications. I check the control panel anyway so its ok but even then from an hour ago I have to choose the last two days to see them.

anyway that was my two cents

I figured it out. Or at least got it to do what I wanted. Now the problem though is that mind is totally focused on the boots in your AV Minout.

They are good aren't they. Mostly just meant for standing still and pointing though ;). You could always just disable the see avatars option but, what would be the fun in that?

Subscribing to a thread will generate e-mail notifications. Un subscribing should stop them.

As an alternative to subscribing, I add threads I want to track to my favorites in a special folder for "subscribed" threads.
