A very happy

It should be a no brainer.

Apparently it does somehow hurt some. Makes no sense at all.
There have been so many sacrifices for slavery. And the majority of it was to be a part of this country. I don't think people understand...and I think people don't truly understand patriotism unless it directly relates to them.

And that's sad.

What people feel this country is, is important. Too many people are self absorbed

Question - if your party celebrates the end of slavery as a thing, why wouldn't you want a day to celebrate it? It seems kinda a no brainier.

Like your entire party would get together to celebrate the end of slavery and tout that your party did that.

Let me ask you this question, and I mean it sincerely. How does having Juneteenth as a celebration of the end of slavery hurt you? Because it certainly doesn't hurt me to have others celebrate milestones in their history.

First of all, Juneteenth isn't a word. It's a bastardized contraction of 2 words which are used to describe a holiday based on the emancipation proclamation. A day that blacks were officially made equal to whites and their status as being nothing more than property without rights elevated to a legal and social level and standing which they still enjoy today.

As part of an official recognition June 19th was set aside as the date for remembrance of this important event.

On the surface, having June 19th set up as a holiday does nothing for me personally either beneficially or harmfully. I still do what I do on most holidays, getting up early and getting home late and tired. The battles I wage on behalf of others still rage despite the holiday and the effort expended in those battles is still the same despite the holiday. None of that furthers the holiday's purpose because none of it is tied to the holiday's meaning. Nor does recognizing the holiday change anything in regard to those things.

However, in my opinion the date is no longer used for celebration. It's used for the denigration of whites. To provide a basis to point fingers. To complain of small slights and slanders as if those were prominent in our society today. It's not used to remember and consecrate a great thing. It's being used to tear down what was once magnificent merely because of hatred.

Hatred of self. Hatred of freedom and liberty. Hatred of whites. And hatred of the United States.

And that harms all of us.

Yet there is no reason to eliminate the holiday. Emancipation was done, equality delivered, and liberty assured as the right of all people regardless of skin color. That this point is lost among all the race hustling, hatred, and blame being cast is not enough to destroy the meaning of what happened. It also doesn't affect me because I don't play that game.

And neither should you.

Unfortunately, he WAS the racist trumptard who started the thread. He was just using one of his other screen names at that time.

^forever stuck on stupid and not understanding that each and every time he reposts this bullshit he only removes all doubt about the truthfulness and accuracy of his other maunderings.

The name "Juneteenth" sounds like it was thought up by an illiterate dunce.

It is curious. White people abolished slavery. It wouldn’t have happened without the actions and beliefs of white Americans working together.

It may have been. Remember, most blacks weren't literate at the time of emancipation.

A majority of them still aren't even today despite graduating from public schools at great cost to the taxpayers.

I've noticed that a bunch of white people seem to think other people are hating on them because they're white.

As a white guy, I've never been treated this way by anyone...,so maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Do you have anything to back up your assertion that
A majority of them still aren't even today
???

You carry so much hate and ignorance in your heart that one day, it will begin to affect your health. This anger and hatred you have, towards people of color, towards GLBT and trans people...do you feel it is at all constructive? Does your racism and trans/homophobia really enrich your life in any way? Because life's too short as it is, and this will shorten your life. And sadly, when it does shorten your life, I suspect very few people will miss you- save the woman in 74's video linked above. Who would seem to be your perfect match- white, overweight, unattractive, ignorant and hateful.

Conservative "men" are such whiny pussies.

This thread proves it.

It also proves that any moron can be a lawyer in the US. lol
