then they could select the people who could make any kinds of waves at all

then they could manipulate them with threats...."Wouldn't your boss be interested in you reading stories about scat sex and incest?" "What would your wife/husband think if you read stories about this...or looked at pictures of that?"

And it was all so secret, no one knew that everyone was blackmailed...

It would be so easy to turn an apparently free society into a police state....

You mean blackmail me into doing something you want because you know a "secret" about me? For family and friends, I'd probably call the blackmailer's bluff. My family and friends love me and would understand, although I wouldn't be happy about having to tell them about this side of my life. For my job, I'd probably have to change jobs. Especially if it was my job that the blackmailer wanted to manipulate. I wouldn't be happy about that, either, but I'd do it before I'd be blackmailed.

I don't worry too much about what the people at work would think about the sites I visit. It isn't their business, I don't have internet access at work so not too much interesting there. Most of my family would not approve of Lit, but again, I am an adult & they would just have to deal with it. To quote Cher, "I answer to God & myself" & I like to think that God has more important things to do than watch me surf the internet.

I was always raised to believe that you dont do something unless you are prepared to take the consequences. If my family and friends knew some of the websites I visited...would they get hurt.

Maybe my dad would and there would be some hard feelings but we have gotten through worse before.

Let whomever tell whomever they want.

I did it, I own up to it and I will take whatever consequences...I will still be loved in the end.
