a riding crop question

ok, recently i was instructed to purchase a riding crop. never having actually BOUGHT a crop before, i have no idea how to shop for one. is there a certian brand i should go for? or avoid? how do i tell quality? isn't it true that i should just go to a farm supply store instead of paying too much at a sex shop? how do i guage durability and strength? am i simply looking too deeply into this and i should just go fucking buy one? thanks for your help! ^_^

The best place is a tack shop. They are all about the same as far as effectiveness. If you aren't interested in looks you should find one for 5 to 10 dollars. A pretty one might run 30 or so.

Also you might try shopping online at horse sites. I'd stay away from the bdsm ones for a crop.

I know what you mean. I did not know what a tack shop was either until I lived in horse country in the state of Washington. I hope to return there soon and learn to ride.

My thoughts

I tend to prefer the tip of the crop to be a small piece of leather. I like to use the crop to accurately administer pain to a very small targeted area.
