I love Billy Joel, all of it. Who can sing? 'well it's five o'clock on a Saturday...'
......and the regular crowd shuffles in..... (this was the inspiration for my "Bar" series.

is it heartwood that burns unlike no othersorry, njoyjade, i missed your post.
glad you like the ambience
do you play the piano? it has a dead key but that just makes for more interesting renditions
what wood makes the prettiest blaze? the one that burns cerise new one, crackerjack!and blue at its heart, red-gold over brown-black at its edges, with wispy pale grey curls of ash that flake and crumble at a touch.
..We could start a glee club!![]()
yay! what do you enjoy singing, annie?I can sing![]()
*whoa! - looks around bar at the regulars and tries hard NOT to imagine them in 'Let's Get Physical' outfits and dancing that routine...*We could start a glee club!![]()
perhaps sois it heartwood that burns unlike no other
set afire by some sweet lover that knows no malice
only the secret of spontaneous combustion ignited by some magic word.
you want to ask annie about Crackerjack! i bet she remembersWine, women, song... I'm opening the Shiraz and starting a fire,
new one, crackerjack!

it's to do with a brit tv kids' show back in our childhoods..
there's so much I've missed...
oh Annie?
.
impossible to post in Live after this you may have to give it a nudge *blinks*
*sits on the floor, cheek resting on harry's thigh, arm around his calf, mesmerised by dancing colour. no need of words*Sips wine, settles into couch, looks far away into flames*
i knew you'd remember itCrackerjack!!!!

give us some Bohemian Rhapsody, woman!I'll sing anything lol I was singing Que Sera in the shower this morning![]()
welly? should I add that to my dictionary?

..yes, yes you should
wellies = wellington boots = gumboots(?) - rubber boots, anyway
but
to 'give it a bit of welly' means to apply some considerable physical force
right?![]()
I like it! coming soon to a poem near you.
hahahaha..
I like it! coming soon to a poem near you.
Ahem...
..
Her eyes were deep wellys battering down defenses well laid
and when the man fell to his knees, it's hard to say who's saved

..hahahaha
annie will be snorting gin out her nostrils over that one
i'm not sure it translates well (even if i get your meaning) - it kind of reads (to brit eyes) as 'her eyes were empty rubber boots - the sort made for very tall people''
hahahahahaha
as to the rest
oy![]()
..
Glad to amuse *Gets Jester costume out of the closet then walks around the room with a tinkling of little bells*
Well I'm ready for Samhain.

i knew you'd remember it
give us some Bohemian Rhapsody, woman!
