A Place Of Ones Own (closed)

The horses were going absolutely mad, until finally, Ferrous turned about and kicked the stall door off its hinges. His war charger blood from his grandfather Phearson was raging, and he charged at the beast, rearing up to swipe at him with heavy hooves. David heard the commotion and came racing out just in time to see Ferrous strike the beast-man.

Annie struggled to keep herself alive, her vision tunneling as the creature held her tightly. She trembled, going limp. Her thoughts turned to her husband. Her dear, sweet David who she would never see again. A single tear drifted down her cheek with that thought.

Suddenly, a great jolt send her tumbling to the ground, the great arm around her neck gone. She sucked in a much needed gasp of air. Her head throbbed, her vision swam, but she mercifully was able to breath. The hay against her arms and cheek scratched her skin, but she found herself unable to move. She just needed air. Lots of air.

Far off in her mind, he could hear David snarl darkly and heard a small scuffle until all fell quiet and Ferrous steadied, stepping over to Annie to nudge her arm gently with his nose.

"Ann?" David's voice called. "Ann, talk to me, love."

Annie let out a little moan as Ferrous nudged her with his nose. She carefully pushed herself over onto her back, looking up towards the roof. Slowly, her pulse started to return to normal, her breathing calming.

"David?" She called out, her voice hoarse.

"Love, you have to get up. Ride Ferrous to the keep and get help," David told her from where he had pinned the werewolf down. Thankfully Ferrous had left the wolf man weak and bloody so he couldn't fight very hard.

Annie nodded, even as her head continued to swim. She reached up for Ferrous's mane, catching a thick chunk of it as the war horse pulled her easily to her feet. She was unsteady, but she knew that if she failed, her husband might die. It took a great effort before she was finally on Ferrous's back.

"Ride." She told the stallion, gasping as he took off like a shot.

The streets of Inverness blurred together as they ran through the darkness and when they reached the keep, she started calling out for help.

Brogan was, surprisingly, the first out to answer her call, followed by Ciaran on his heels and Kate behind him. Ciaran caught Ferrous' reins to steady him and Brogan reached out for Annie. When he found her hand, he drew her down into his arms. "What's 'happened, love?" He asked quickly.

"Attacked in the stables." She panted, pressing her cheek against her father's strong chest. "David needs help."

Brogan pressed Annie into Ciaran's arms and pulled himself up on Ferrous' saddle. "Home," Brogan grunted to the horse. All of the Ghis horses knew the command, and Ferrous took off with his blind rider. Ciaran brought Annie into the keep, "It's okay, Dad'll bring him back..." He knew his father was more than capable even without sight. Several warriors followed Brogan close behind to take care of the threat of the stranger.

"No! Da!" Annie called after her blind father as he swung himself onto Ferrous and rode off into the night. "Kate, go after him. Don't let him go alone." She called to her sister as Ciaran took her into the keep and sat her down in the great hall in front of the fire.

Soon enough, her grandfather appeared, settling in front of her to check the bruising on her throat. "I'm fine, Grandpa. I promise."

"You're lucky," Vincenzo sighed as he finally quit fussing over her. He sighed and sat down shaking his head. He was getting too old for such frights for the sake of his family. It wasn't too long before Brogan returned with a hale and whole David, and the soldiers who'd followed Brogan locked away the wolf-man. David came running to Annie, pulling her into his arms gingerly.

Annie was up and in David's arms the moment that she saw him. She wrapped her arms tightly around her husband and let out a sigh. She had almost died and she only wanted the comfort of her husband.

"Who was that man?" She asked him softly, her cheek pressed tightly against his chest.

"I don't know... I intend to find out the moment he wakes up. He had Lunar tattoos, but something was off about them... I think we need to bring a Lunar to see him."

"Casso an' his people who helped us in th' war against Wick'll be back from patrol in the morning," Brogan told them. "He'll know."

Annie turned as she heard her father's voice, a little bit of anger showing in her eyes. "Da! I can't believe you'd run off into the darkness without anyone helping you!"

"I may be blind, love," Brogan spoke quietly. "But I'm not helpless." He then turned, finding his way to the hall and back to his room to Julia, who he was sure was worried after the sudden rush. But before he'd gone, he called back, "You two're staying here t'night."

Annie bit back a reply, simply pressing her cheek to David's chest once more. Once everything had settled down, they found themselves in her childhood bedroom, lying side by side in the small bed. She let out a sigh as she took David's hand and squeezed it, looking at her husband with a gaze that told him all that he needed to know.

"If they're attacking us inside Inverness already, then we have bigger problems then we ever imagined." She said softly.

"We need to bulk up the wall guard and put spike traps on the outside and inside of the walls... maybe some spikes on the walls themselves to make them harder to climb over." David tried to let himself relax with a sigh. "But I imagine Brogan's already thought of that or better."

"I'm sure Da has, but he needs to let someone else take the reigns before he gets killed." She murmured softly, thinking about her father and how she felt when he had run off into the night despite missing his sight. "I don't know what to do, David."

"I don't think you can really stop him, love..." David sighed. "He knows best what his own limitations are, but even those won't stop him from trying to protect his family. The best we can do is exactly what you and the younger members of the family have been planning. It'll keep your parents and aunts and uncles a bit further from danger. Hopefully that means that they won't suffer anything like they did in their last war when you were young. But... that also means you and your siblings and cousins have to be prepared to walk away with scars, and you have to realize that it's possible some of you won't walk away at all..."

"We've always known that." Annie said softly as she turned towards her husband and snuggled against his side. "I've known that since my mother was murdered. I just wish that things could be easier and simple."

"I know you do, Ann... and I wish I could make that come true for you." He buried his face against her neck where her hair lay in soft waves, taking in a deep breath of her sweet scent. "I love you," he muttered just loud enough to be heard as his arms wrapped a little more tightly around her.

"I love you too." Annie said softly, pulling her husband into a loving embrace as he sank his nose in her thick locks and took in a deep breath.

She tilted her head to the side and gently kissed him, sighing softly as their lips met and his arms squeezed her just a little bit tighter.

Silently, David moved further, wanting to comfort her quietly with his love. As they'd already undressed for bed, there was nothing between them to stop him caressing her skin and kissing her bare shoulder. Still in perfect silence, he offered her his physical love to accompany his heart and take her mind off the hardships they were about to face head-on.

Annie let out the softest of moans as her husband's strong hand gently stroked along her skin, his body pressing tightly against hers as his lips caressed along her shoulder. David was a sensual man, someone who always made her feel like the most special person in the entire world.

"David..." She murmured as she felt his hardening cock pressing against her bottom.

Slowly, she pulled herself from her husband's arms, her hands and knees planting firmly on the bed as she looked down at him with a sensual smile. She needed him more than she could ever admit. This moment was no different.

David's smile in return was soft, loving, and showed her his willingness to please. He rose to his own knees, shifting behind her and drawing her hips to his own. His arm wrapped beneath her, and as he pressed slowly and delicately into her moistened and welcoming entrance, he drew her up until her back pressed to his chest. His kiss was like warm fire on her neck and shoulders. His hips rocked her own as he made sweet, silent love to her.
