I'd just like to say thank you to everyone who's made me laugh over the past few weeks. You may not know who you are, but if you've mentioned someone hacking lit, tracking IPs, outing the conspirators, or anything along those lines, you've made me giggle, chuckle, spew my soda and basically laugh my ass off.

I've especially enjoyed the good guy/bad guy scenario that's played out. Perhaps I've enjoyed it more than most because I see such similarities in the two men filling the roles. It's like watching someone argue with their reflection. How can that NOT be amusing?

Here's a little anecdote fo y'all.

Any resemblence to actual posters at lit in the following anecdote is strictly coincidental. I don't think that 'Sal' posts here. I'm not stating that anyone IS 'Sal'.

I used to moderate a chat room. Another moderator, let's call him Sal, got overwhelmingly jealous of a room regular who the flirtier women had suddenly glommed on to. So, Sal decided that the easiest way to get rid of this guy was to tell everyone how dangerous he was, that he was a hacker, that he was out to plant 'bugs' in everyone's system. The clincher was... only SAL could stop him and protect people. So he 'deputized' a bunch of other regulars, made them moderators, and had them checking IPs of every person that visited the room. He had pages and pages and pages of IPs written down. He started printing screens anytime anything 'suspicious' was said in public. He began threatening to call 'the proper authorities'.

I thought it was terribly amusing then.

It's sort of comforting to know that some things never change.

That sounds a little sad, to me.

Did anyone tell him it was just a chat room?

Aww thanks. Big shame they cancelled Futurama jsut as it was properly kcicking into its stride. Was a worthy successor to the Simpsons. That just happens to be my favourite line of the last few I've seen
